Fulham is that corner where bustle meets birdsong, where the quiet village encounters the speeding city, while the rolling river keeps everything in happy proportion. It’s the ideal balance, much like elegant Felden Street. Here, light and space find perfect harmony. Victorian features flaunt a winningly up-to-date twist, and sleek white walls pop with well-chosen colours. Lovingly designed, there’s not a piece out of place, from the sun-dusted patio to the funkily furnished sitting room. And, with Fulham’s pretty parks and sunny cafes waiting up the road, the whole family can find that perfect happiness.
A young married couple, your hosts are expecting the arrival of their first baby. He’s an English lawyer from Hampshire, she’s a hedge fund manager hailing from Sydney. And the fact is, this marriage of Aussie and English pedigree has already borne fruit in the shape of their sumptuous home, which they spent six months fondly renovating together.
The sitting room is at once elegant and extrovert, big Victorian windows spilling armloads of light across snazzy furniture and walls which fizz with colour. Ensconce yourself in a slouchy sofa with a well-chosen book, or explore beyond the temptingly large TV into the kitchen. With skylights and floor-to-ceiling glass doors, every last detail here is stylish, from the swish island to some absorbing artwork. Outside, agree that the lush patio is just the place for a BBQ beneath the gathering dusk.
Upstairs, the vast master bedroom is graceful, with a sweet balcony and luxurious ensuite. Antique furniture conjures a rustic feel in the broody double bedroom, while the modern bathroom holds our White Company toiletries. Nestling in the attic, you’ve a loveable child’s bedroom, complete with cot and wall stickers, as well as a further tranquil double.
All together now
Kids will love a bound around Bishop’s Park, and at lunchtime you can follow the wheeling seagulls towards a charming riverside pub. Cute neighbourhood cafes flank the quiet streets, where you can pick up some coffee and croissants before sampling the shops on Fulham Broadway. Lovers of the beautiful game might want to drop by Chelsea or Fulham F.C. on a Saturday afternoon, while flashy Chelsea itself is close by. If you’re tempted by town, the tube from Parson’s Green to Piccadilly Circus takes around twenty five minutes.
