This cosy, two bedroom, one bathroom terrace home is a quiet haven away from the bustle of West London, a little world-away, where skylights show off the eclectic artwork, accessories, and the high-end fixtures and fittings. Outside, you’re surrounded by period architecture and many-a classic pub, and you’re tantalisingly close to some of London’s most exciting areas. So check out the restaurants of West Brompton, or take a short bus the world famous King’s Road. Heading back to your Kenway Road castle, relax in a deep bath and slip into the bubbles, wine glass in hand.
Your hosts are a young pair of lovebirds. He’s a doctor and she’s a writer, and together they’ve stamped their own, unique style onto their home. The canine curiosities which cover the walls show that they’re real dog lovers, and when they’re not out stretching their legs in local parks, they’re enjoying a glass of wine in their private garden.
In the hallway be immediately struck by the whimsical décor. Rest up on the plush sofa, which is adorned with Union Jack and bull dog cushions, or admire the profusion of candy coloured lilies, which sit in vases all around. Indulge your writerly side at the bookcase, which is brimming with intellectual bounty, or dig into that freshly bought croissant at the open plan dining room table. Over in the kitchen, play the host and cook up a storm on the aqua-blue work surfaces, or play the guest and kick back on the armchair and oversee goings on. The punk inspired gilt-framed painting above your head serves as a reminder that you’re in no ordinary home.
Upstairs the master and the double bedrooms are both neutrally decorated with playful flourishes with a bathroom to share. Even the hallway – with its graffiti style artwork and porcelain hippopotamus head – has many a story to tell.
Let your tootsies take you on a city constitutional round this vibrant corner of West London, and explore the area’s restaurants and bars or wander up to the world famous Hyde Park via Knightsbridge, stopping for a mooch in Harrod’s on the way. Further a-field, reach Oxford in just 15 minutes via Earls Court station round the corner.
