This was my first experience renting a vacation home. I needed a family home in Los angeles on two separate weekends (six days total) for business and immediately thought it was going to be a major hassle full of inconveniences on top of the typical hustle and bustle of Los angeles.
Thankfully, my experience was quite the opposite.
I call this home a hidden gem because of the Silverlake neighborhood it sits in. If you've never been to Silverlake, it's adjacent to Griffith Park, Los Feliz, and Hollywood. Unlike most of Los angeles, the streets here are narrow, wind around, up and down the hills for amazing views of the city and neighborhood. It's cozy, sleepy, and makes you want to take your time as you cruise by some amazing old homes you'll probably never see anywhere else.
The home itself has amazing "magnasite" (?) flooring in the foyer and staircase to compliment it's original hardwood floors. I absolutely loved them and felt like they really added personality to the rest of the home. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything I needed to cook and serve food, the side office came in very handy for actual office work I had to do. Bed sheets and towels where clean and soft. And I had no complaints with any of the bathrooms.
My only issues would be about not getting the chance to enjoy every room of the house because I was just too busy. (i.e. We never ate in the dinning room because we loved the bar stools at the kitchen counter. And we never had a chance to sit on the deck and watch the sunset - the view is amazing, pictures don't do it justice. Don't get me started on the living room I never actually sat in to read a book or just hang out in.)
Although I never got a chance to meet Thad in person, I have to say he still made sure I had everything I needed and was always available for any questions I had concerning my stay or the home itself. I was very impressed with his professionalism and willingness to accommodate my needs.
Landis, thanks for your kind words. We try our best to make our guests feel comfortable and content during their stay and I'm glad it worked out so well for you. We welcome you back anytime!

This is a comfortable house with superb views from a spacious balcony, extremely good mattresses, and top-notch appliances. It would be good under any circumstances, but the star of the show is really Thad, who went out of his way to help us out and generally make us feel welcome in any way he could. If I had to find a drawback, it would be that the parking space is a little restricted, but then, we did arrive in a very large van, whereas a normal-sized car would have no problem. We will most certainly come back here again if we have the opportunity.
Thank you, Thad!

Our group of 8 was visiting Hollywood for a weekend, but even with 8 adults we had enough room to spread out through the house so that we never felt cramped. The balcony stretches across the back of the house with a high-end gas grill and a gas fire-pit/table. We spent most of our time at the house sitting out on the deck and looking over the garden. The house is ten minutes from Hollywood Blvd but you wouldn't know it judging from the unspoiled views or the quiet neighborhood. Checking in, parking, commuting: everything about this rental ran smoothly and allowed us to enjoy our time in la with a stress-free environment to come home to. Everyone in our party agrees it is nicer than staying in a hotel room.
This is a very nice house, and it would be a lovely place to come home to.

We rented the Silverlake house in June, 2012 and the house was awesome. Thad was extremely easy to work with; no hassle and very quick responses.
We were a party of four adults and 3 children and we had more than enough room. The paths in the backyard were a hit with the kids and with the adults. House was very clean. Views were amazing. Neighboorhood awesome! Very trnedy and a Trader Joes and other restaurants/stores were very close by. I wanted to pack the whole house in my suitcase and bring it home with me! ;-)

This house is in a quiet neighborhood close to everything. I stayed here for work/pleasure and it served both needs very well. Close to downtown and there are lots of great restaurants in the area. I especially enjoyed relaxing on the deck with a glass of wine watching the sunset.
