Description
With stunning views over the Caribbean, Cassava is set within its own grounds less than two hundred paces up from Lower Bay, a short meander down to one of The Grenadine's finest swimming beaches. The expansive ocean-facing coral stone terrace, which spans the full width of the house is the main living area, the perfect place to relax with a cool drink and watch the sun set. To the left a carved wooden entrance leads into the dining room and to the right, beyond a deep, cushioned seating area, is the master bedroom with its own private terrace, large dressing room and bathroom. In the centre on this outside covered living terrace is a central opening giving onto steps leading down to the swimming pool which has a an 8ft bench under shade and 8 sun loungers. On this lower level two double/twin rooms with en suite shower rooms lead onto their own leafy terraces with sea views. Through the courtyard behind the living room, up steps to what was a roof terrace there is now a fourth bedroom overlooking the sea, with a 5ft four poster bed and en-suite w/c shower room. 4,837sq.ft. Cassava can now accommodate up to 8 guests. (If required, a smaller house close by can accommodate a further 6 people upon request.) Enjoy a cool drink or lunch at De Reef and the oceanside bar and mid-week open air movie at Keegans, all on the beach. Join in the steel pan jump up at The Frangipani on the water front. There are a number of good restaurants and bars on the island. Off season Gert keeps Papa's bar and restaurant open in Port Elizabeth, always welcoming. Bequia is the perfect island to relax and unwind, swimming, reading, fishing, snorkelling or diving, or hike to the top of Mount Peggy side-stepping purple-orange land crabs, and from the lava rock sculpted summit look down over the sweep of islands. Explore the beaches, calm Princess Margaret or the beautiful but wilder Atlantic side of the island, and the turtle sanctuary. Visit the pristine islands of the Tobago Cays, Mayreau on the way. Explore St Vincent where Pirates of the Caribbean was filmed at Wallilabou Bay, hike to the Dark View Falls or the Soufriere volcano. Or just take a water taxi around Bequia and see the dwellings at Moonhole from the sea, an extraordinary and magical collection of houses carved and built into the cliffs at the southern tip of the island. Stroll through the shops and vegetable stalls of Port Elizabeth and catch its old world charm. The people of Bequia are warm and welcoming and you will soon feel at home and may well yearn to return to this unique island with its Caribbean charm.
