The Villa of Light has been our home for 3 years. we now offer it for rent during 2015.
I don't want to give the usual platitudes of "best villa on the beach" etc. We simply rely upon our reviews, see below (Trip Advisor).
The vast majority of “beachside villas” are misnomers – they are not in fact located beachside. The Villa of Light, finished 3 years ago, and designed by Samui's premier architect, M-Systems, is situated literally on the superb award-winning Maenam beach in northern Samui. Open your gate and plunge into the soft sand. Walk another 10 metres and plunge into the warm, clean, azure waters of the ocean. Soft sandy floor, no stones, and its deep waters make it the best beach area for swimming and water sports in Koh Samui.
Enter the villa via the electronic gates and your internal car-parking area, and through the sturdy wooden front door, and the first thing you notice is that the neighbouring island of Koh Phangan is almost in your living room, despite it being 30 minutes ferry ride away! The glass doors that straddle the downstairs area let in a fantastic amount of light, and give you spectacular views over the pool, beach and bay.
The villa sleeps six comfortably, with the possibility of another two persons. It has 2 main bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms. There is one further bedroom with a mezzanine feature that sleeps another 2 comfortably, with ensuite bathroom.
The downstairs area is open-plan, one huge area, which accommodates the lounge area, a dining area (with beautiful 12 foot long wooden dining table), and modern fully equipped kitchen (fridge, microwave, oven) with black granite breakfast bar. Perfect for either fine or casual dining.
The floors throughout the villa are made of superior sandstone, which also covers the pool area, so that when the front glass doors are open, an impression is given of one larger seamless area.
The villa has 3 three beautifully decorated, air-conditioned, bedrooms, two of which have sizeable balconies with stunning views over the bay to the neighbouring island of Koh Phangan. The bathrooms are ensuite, with European –style finishing. The master bedroom has a large bath, and the showers are all fashionably-tiled. Each room has ample wardrobe space.
There is an upstairs courtyard that separates the bedrooms, with seating area to allow you to have breakfast overlooking the ocean from a height.
All front-facing rooms overlook the pool and garden and offer amazing views of the bay and complete privacy and luxury. The lounge is equipped with satellite, LCD flat screen television, DVD and I-pod dock. WI-fi internet is available throughout the house.
The villa boasts a swimming pool of 12 metres length, with Bali-green tiles and an impressive waterfall feature. Easy access by way of stone steps into the pool. Outdoor shower. There are a number of easy-reclining sun-beds, with table and chairs, A number of Frangipani trees and the house itself offers shade when required.
There is a wooden sala in the garden, overlooking the beach, where we guarantee you will spend many hours, simply gazing along the stunning Maenam beach and across the bay. A great place to drink your cocktail or read your book in peace.
The Villa has a Video and games room that can if required be turned into a 4th bedroom. The room offers Wii, and PlayStation 3, with a 50” TV.
There is also a Gym room, with a treadmill and a modern multi-discipline weight machine.
Finally, the Villa is lucky enough to have one of the best small family-run restaurants in Samui literally next door, which will deliver full meals and drinks to the sala or even your dining room in the evening, at amazingly cheap prices! Just shout over the fence for your coconut shake! No need to cook on your vacation unless you want to!...Read more

This is a lovely house with an open plan layout that extends straight out to the pool area. I just loved sitting there with all the doors folded back and some music on the stereo. You are just a few steps away from the beach where you will find a couple of lovely beach bars are directly to the left and Sea One restaurant is on the right, in my mind just about the perfect location with no discernible noise from the bars at night. You are a little over 100 metres to walking street via the beach.
The bedrooms are lovely and large with direct vies of the beach, if you sleep with the doors open you can hear the waves lapping at the beach. They also have nice large en-suite bathrooms.
If you want to stay in at night there is a decent kitchen, substantial TV with good surround sound and DVD player, there is also an entertainment room with a further large TV/DVD, Wii and PS3
This really is a fabulous house that draws many an admiring (jealous?) glance from those walking past on the beach. Sue and Mike are charming hosts, providing pickup at drop off for the airport and a substantial welcome pack including a few beers to start the holiday off. Highly recommended!

I stayed at the villa in March with my son and aged parents and was overwhelmed by the villa and its surroundings. We were picked up at the airport by Mike and Sue, the owners, and whisked away for the 15mins ride to the villa. The first thing that hits you when you enter is the panoramic views of the sea, it was like part of the living room! We had a great time during our two weeks, Maenam itself is a pretty village and I am glad we stayed there instead of the more touristy areas. Many local, inexpensive restaurants, although one night we dressed up and went to the nearby incredible W Hotel for some amazing food and incredible surroundings. The house itself - the bedrooms are very large, two with a large balcony overlooking the sea, all ensuite. Lovely kitchen with all the home comforts you could wish for, and fantastic home entertainment equipment with very comfortable living area. The private pool was gorgeous, and we spent a lot of our time sitting at the sala overlooking the beach. We spent most of our holiday in or around the villa as we didnt see the need to move, we had everything we needed there. We did take a couple of boat rides, which were great fun, and travelled to the south of the island where very few tourists go. Mike and Sue were only a phone call away if we needed any advice.
Would thoroughly recommend a holiday to the Villa of Light, we are already planning our next holiday for 2014!
