“Gorgeous relaxing Caribbean villa” Everything that past reviewers have said about Casona Palms is true. It is truly a Caribbean paradise, private, secluded, quiet, and absolutely beautiful. The atmosphere encourages you to sit still and relax while soaking in the gorgeous view of the sea and listening to the wind rustle in the coconut palms. The beach is kept raked clean by the caretakers, the kayaks are ready for your use, and the lounge chairs await you and a good book. The house is pristine, tasteful, and more than comfortable. Michael the owner provided us with extremely helpful and complete information on the house and surrounding area, including great driving directions. We enjoyed trips to the village of Majahual, quiet and lazy when the cruise ships are not in, but more shops are open on cruise ship days. You can occupy a table on the beach and slip in the water for a swim between margaritas. There is a great pescaderia that sells fish and lobster fresh off the boats every afternoon. Ask around for antonio the owner. We enjoyed an excursion to the stunning Mayan ruins of Chocchoban. We went on a day when the cruise ships were not in and had the entire place to ourselves. We spent a couple days with Nick Denbow, a delightful local fishing guide and British expat. The men in our group went bone fishing with him one day on a nearby lagoon, and our entire group went bird and wildlife watching with him on the border between Mexico and Belize. We experienced dozens of stingrays swimming past our boats and leaping in the air in the Chetumal Bay and were thrilled by gentle giant manatees approaching our boat in the river. I can recommend Casona Palms without hesitation.

“15 days by the sea” A very special place this Casa del Cielo de las Estrellas. Far from the crowded areas, close enough to the village of Mahahual for basic shopping, with a private enchanted beach, the house has pretty much everything you need. Don't expect luxury, but good taste in interior and exterior decorating is everywhere. You'll have that warm feeling of being in a good place. The house is not big but we never felt like we needed more space (I have to mention that, for one week, 3 friends came along and joined us). No conditioned air, but the windows were open almost all the time (don't worry about bugs, there are screens at every single window) and that was enough to cool down the place even at 40 C outside. The breeze from the sea was almost perpetual and it made a big difference. Things to do around there: swim and snorkel right in front of your house, go visit the myriad of Mayan ruins, fish and cook your capture (even I was able to catch fish), go kayaking, look for sea shells and marine snails. Or just sit on one of the 3 terraces or under the palapa just nearby the shore line and have a drink or a cup of tea. Regarding activities, Rudolf's Internet site is a gold mine data wise. And he'll answer your questions in no time. You'll love the taste of the fresh fruits there (don't hesitate one moment to buy them from the vendors on the side of the highways) and, if you're not very swanky, you'll like the local made cheese and ham as well. We ate 2 or 3 times at the local restaurants and a few other times outside Mahahual, in little "cocina"s located in small villages. The simple, not very fancy ones, won by far, in my opinion. Anyway, if you're looking for tranquillity and you're trying to get disconnected from today`s world tumult, Casa del Cielo de las Estrellas is the place to be. Did we lack anything while there? Yes: a blender and a shaker! Will we go back? Certainly. If time will allow. That's another thing we lacked there. Whish we could've stayed longer...

“My new favorite place” I was skeptical when I first saw it and google mapped it. However, I went with it anyway and I'M so glad I did. My wife and I went for a week and it was so great to snorkel in peace, relax in peace and go into town and visit the real mexico when we wanted to. We did many different things off the property that were close and amazing. Horseback riding, site seeing and swimming in some Ceynotes. (I'll let you look that one up) The hosts were very nice and helpful. The place was very clean and I've been there twice now. I drove from Cancun the first time - which wasnt bad. Nice to see Mexico on the drive down. On my 2nd visit, I chartered a small 6 passenger plane because my time was so limited - that worked out really well also. I'm not much of a swimmer, but a few minutes on the beach I had the snorkeling figured out and I could have done it all day, everyday. The coral makes the shoreline so fun to snorkel in and around. I would recommend this place to couples and families with children. I've been there with both and we had an amazing time with and without our kids.

Charming Beach Villa Snorkeling-Fishing-Kayaking
Perfect!

Wow...not even sure where to start! Mahauhal: I was not sure what to expect, but I was blown away. Mahahual was beautiful! The raw, untouched beaches stretch for miles in both directions. Plenty of things to do. Snorkeling directly in front of the house was incredible. There are two man made reefs very close to shore with plenty of fish and sea creatures to see. There is also an amazing large reef a bit further out. We saw many different types fish. Also saw a Spotted Eagle Ray for the very first time! There are several Maya ruins within an easy drive of the house as well. No crowds. We also made several trips into town for meals and shopping. Even on days that the cruise ships were not in port, there were plenty of shops and restaurants open. House: What a lovely property! The owner's have put a lot of hard work into landscaping and upkeep. The grounds have walkways, palapas, benches, pond, as well as a tree swing all surrounded by tropical vegetation. It feels like your own private paradise. The house was clean and well maintained. The bedrooms are on the 2nd floor which allows a nice sea breeze to keep things comfortable for sleeping. We enjoyed the hammocks on the 2nd level patio at night...can watch the moon come up over the ocean. We also enjoyed the rooftop patio for stargazing. Before the moon comes up the stars are so bright that it feels like you are in a planetarium! The house is well stocked with plates, utensils, pots and pans, basic seasonings, etc... I would recommend bringing dish and bath soap as well as purchasing tin foil or plastic wrap if you plan to cook and store food. The entire trip was a wonderful experience. What made it even nicer was that one of the owner's, Rudolf, was in town house sitting for a friend. Rudolf took us to some beautiful beaches to show us where to find sea beans. He also took us out snorkeling. He made the experience that much richer with his insights and information. It was a pleasure to meet him - thank you!see more

If you are in search of a stunning and secluded villa, look no further!

My wife and another couple spent an amazing five nights at Villa Casona Palms! When on vacation we always search for seclusion and try to avoid crowds and large resorts; this home was exactly what we were looking for. You have your own beautiful private beach and town is only 30 min away, so heading to town to shop or go out to eat is not an inconvenience at all. We spent most of our time paddling the kayaks, snorkeling, fishing and looking for lion fish to spear for dinner. If you like to snorkel, the reef is a short 400 meter paddle to a very nice reef (the caretakers can provide an anchor for the kayaks). If you don't feel like paddling out to the reef, some nice snorkeling can be had inside the reef within walking distance from the house, just make sure to have water shoes or strap on sandals. The caretakers were absolutely wonderful. The beach was groomed every morning at sunrise and the house was cleaned daily. The caretakers are very sweet and are happy to help you out with anything you might need. Michael certainly has two great employees. This villa is absolutely stunning and extremely well maintained. When we arrived I even commented to my wife that the pictures did not do it justice. It has a well stocked kitchen and is impeccably clean. The bedrooms are large, the bathrooms are very nice, the beds comfortable and the breeze keeps them very comfortable at night. Michael is very organized and extremely efficient when it comes to communication. The guest book that he has created is invaluable; it is well organized and provides all the information that one could possibly need. His recommendations on restaurants and places to shop for groceries on the way down are spot on. We did find a small shop in town that provides high quality deli meat, cheeses, chicken and fish that I highly recommend if you need to stock up throughout your stay. I can't remember the name of the small shop, but it is one block off the beach road and about half way to the end of the main strip on the right hand side. I'm sure Michael can provide more information on the shop. The drive down from Cancun is nothing to be concerned about. You simply follow one highway (good condition) for the majority of the way. Just keep an eye out for speed bumps and you will be just fine. We will certainly be back!see more
