Additional Location Information
We are located on a ridge overlooking the Parrita River Valley and the Pacific Ocean. The setting is absolutely fantastic for a low key relaxing family and friends vacation away from all the hustle and bustle of the tourist traps. We are the real Costa Rica. The tourist areas of Manuel Antonio and Jaco are an easily easily accessible hour drive away.
The best canopy tour in all of Costa Rica is located on our mountain just minutes away. Also a couple of very nice waterfalls. There is usually a plethora of butterflies, birds, and monkeys for viewing.
There is a couple very nice grocery stores in the bustling little town of Parrita, which is 25 minutes away. Also, some very good local Tico restaurants, bars, shopping, etc. Everything you would expect to find in a small town.
There are a couple of very nice resort type restaurants located on the beach below us for romantic sunset dining.
Several nice local beaches are a 1/2 hour drive below us. You can walk the beaches for miles and see very few people, only local Ticos. Or you can go to the more popular tourist beaches where you can do anything from parasailing to jet skiing, surfing or banana boat riding.
If surfing is your thing, there are some dangerous riptides on occasion at the professional surfing beaches but we do best to avoid them, unless of course you are an excellent surfer. We like to take the newbie surfers to Jaco or Quepos and get lessons in a safe and fun environment.
At the end of the day it is great to get back up on the hill to relax and enjoy the views.

“A perfect family Christmas holiday at Casa Brisas”
Our family of 8: my husband, myself and our three grown children and their spouses were looking for a special Christmas destination this year, away from the cold of the Northeast and Canada, and couldn't have been more pleased that we found the perfect spot, Randy and Claudia’s Casa Brisas. This was the first trip to Costa Rica for all of us and we wanted opportunities for some adventures (like deep sea fishing, surfing and zip-lining) and also a comfortable place for some downtime, away from the crowds and bustle of beach towns. This beautiful home suited our needs perfectly. The setting is idyllic, with views over the Pacific, toucans and other birds in the trees, hammocks to lounge on for reading and a fantastic infinity pool ready to jump in day or evening. The house had 4 large private bedrooms, so each couple had at least a queen size bed and privacy. The decks, balconies and grounds gave everyone a chance to sit peacefully and read or go for a quiet walk. We had originially thought we would be going into town in the evenings for dinner, but in fact, it was so beautiful at the house that after a day’s adventures, we were happy to settle in, cook in the well-equipped kitchen, talk, star gaze, swim and relax. This was good, as the road down the hill into town is tough in the evening. I also cannot complete a note on the house without mentioning, as others have before me, how helpful Randy and Claudia were to our family. Starting with working with me months in advance on planning, Randy gave me many suggestions for tour operators for activities like deep sea fishing and zip-lining that I am glad we booked in advance, as Christmas week is busy. Randy met us at the airport, with the Toyota and escorted us down the coast. He really thought of everything, including had arranging to make sure we had some food in the house for breakfast the following morning. Randy was just a huge help keeping things on track when one of the couple’s flight was delayed and we had to arrange a taxi for them, Randy dealt with the drive and even went into town himself late in the evening to drive the late arrivers up to the house… Try getting service like that at a big hotel!! Having the option to use the Toyota SUV while at the house is a great perk too. My husband and I did rent a car and then used the kids used Toyota for transportation, so we were all able to head out on separate adventures when appropriate or have easy travel room for all 8 of us. Do rent an SUV or other 4 X 4, as you need it on the roads to up Casa Brisas (Randy had warned me). Do not hesitate to book this beautiful home, you’ll have a wonderful time and be glad you did.

This was my first trip to Costa Rica and I was skeptical at first. However, with the help and reassurance from Randy it eased the worry of traveling to a unfamiliar place. He was over reassuring that this was the place to be. The house was amazing in all aspects. I loved the rocky road and trip up the mountain to the estate in that you could take all the scenery in as you drove up the mountain. The ticos up and down the hill were always friendly and waived to you. What made the trip for us though was Thomas and Rosie. Thomas and Rosie were the most kind people I have ever met and went over the top out their way to make sure every second of our stay was a unforgettable one. It was. Oscar was invitingly friendly as well. I can not say enough things about the house, Randy, Thomas, Rosie and Oscar but I can say if you are deciding to visit Costa Rica "THIS IS THE PLACE TO BE". I can not wait to revisit the friends I have made there. PURA VIDA Todd Smith Madison. Mississppi

“We are hooked.”
This was our second trip to the Casa and we must say it was better than the first. My wife and I had 10 days to explore and take in the Country like we had never before. We found the rainy season (Sept) more to our liking and would highly recommend that time of the year to truly experience the beauty of the region. Cannot say enough about Randy's staff and hospitality, something truly unique in todays environment. As I Titled this review as being hooked for it truly did hook us, to the point we have purchased a house east of Parrita and are moving up our retirement dates. Pura Vida Jane and Bill Wright Lake Wales, FL. Ps. Randy sorry for being late on this review, however we have been busy with making the move. (Neighbor)

The view is that spectacular. The beach by the owner's house is unpopulated, secluded, relaxing. The house is becoming dated. The appliances are starting to break down, hydro service to the house is taxed, so you can't run the dryer and one air conditioner. The beach house isn't a beach house that you're expecting. It's the owner's place, so you're sharing his bathroom. Even when you make reservations to use the two horses that he keeps down there, you don't get them. Our original booking was to include 2 days on a boat, but he changed that too. We asked in emails before we got there about recompense if we didn't use both days on the boat, and he agreed. We booked 6ppl to the house, and had 6 on the boat. After he told us it cost more to use that boat, so there was no money coming back. His live-in girlfriend cooked some chicken and beef on a bbq, laid out salsa and chips. We were invited for that but it ended up costing $150 for that. He sure liked the Cdn whiskey we brought tho! And we didn't get the rest of our deposit back. He couldn't meet up with us, so he asked his caretaker to do it. Oscar didn't have money, so we were out of luck for that too. When we booked, he didn't charge for our 8th day. We were up front on the number of guests, what we wanted to do. If the owner would have told us ahead of time that things were changing, we could have worked something out. Instead it all came out on the last day when I asked about what was promised. You do need a 4x4 vehicle. If you want peace and quiet, you get plenty of that.

Although we have been partners for two years, the Casa is now under new management and the original owner is in the process of being bought out. Going forward we will strive to make every vacation a memorable one and of course all costs will be discussed up front so there are no surprises. We will be making improvements and doing the needed repairs as soon as possible. Please bear in mind however that Costa Rica, for all it's beauty and attractions, is still a developing country and all the services will not be the same as in a developed country. If we can be of service again, please do not hesitate to contact us. Pura Vida! Randy and Claudia Dains

“Third time's a charm!”
This was my third visit to Costa Rica and I'd have to say it was fabulous! When Randy met us at the highway he said the ride in will be interesting, but you'll see when you get to the house . . . and he was right! Jaws dropped, kids squealed with excitement and that was just the beginning! Sleep with the doors open and no screens! No need for air conditioning. Beautiful weather and wonderful people on the mountain truly made this a paradise. Kids could saddle a horse any time and go for a ride. Explore the hillsides and mountain streams, swim in the cool and refreshing fresh water. Make sure you grab lots of food and drink before you head up the mountain, because once you get there, you won't want to leave. It's truly an extraordinary piece of this Earth!

Thanks you guys and we are glad everyone enjoyed their stay at the estate. We truly enjoyed the kids and Gavalon, Picas and the rest of the horses got plenty of exercise, lol. No matter where you stay your next trip to CR come up and see us as we would love to treat you all to lunch and a ride down to the waterfall. Best wishes in 2012. “Ultimate relaxing vacation”
My girlfriend and I and her parents spent a week at Casa Brisas de la Montana. The home is fantastic. It has everything one needs and is absolutely stunning and the location is perfect. The mountain setting was a different choice for us and I couldn't be happier. It has changed the way I will book vacations because I enjoyed it so much. You feel like you have the entire Costa Rican jungle to yourselves and perched on the mountain, the view is amazing. When you are taking the first drive up the winding gravel mountain road, you will ask yourself "where am I going?". However, once you are at the villa, you realize this is one of the best features of the location - you have absolute privacy and no distractions like most tourist-oriented properties. I can honestly say it was the most relaxing environment I have ever stayed at. It was very easy to balance activities away from the villa with relaxing at the villa. We alternated days between enjoying the sunbathing/swimming/reading with day trips away from the moutain. When you are at the villa you can easily take in horseback riding (we went on two afternoon excursions to see the monkeys and birds) and hiking. There is a zip line just 10minutes down the hill that was awesome and we hiked to a waterfall for a dip in a mountain stream. On days away from the mountain, we went deep sea fishing (thanks Tom) and to the Manual antonio park. Each was a leisurely drive arranged by Randy and Claudia. The service was excellent - from the pickup at the airport to taking care of absolutely any day-to-day requirements. Randy and Claudia made sure that if there was anything we needed, it was handled immediately - driving, tours, food and drink, etc. We arranged to have a catered meal one night at the villa which worked out fantastic and several nights we grilled ourselves. We also loved the small authentic restaurants near the villa and in Parrita. This was the best vacation I have ever taken.

“A once in a lifetime dream of a vacation”
Our stay at this luxurious, most comfortable home exceeded all my very high expectations. The beautiful new home was extremely spacious and clearly a custom built high quality home with gorgeous teak used throughout, including huge teak french doors that opened up from every room and made you feel like you were always a part of the outdoors. We spent a lot of time under the covered terraces which surrounded 2 entire sides of the home on both floors. That and the large infinity pool with multi-level patios and built in barb'q had us outside the majority of the time. The scenery and feeling of being part of the incredible nature made it difficult to spend too much time inside. The amazing landscaping and flowers (thanks to Scheila) put the finishing touches on the outdoors. We were completely surrounded by gorgeous nature -- jungles, forests, mountains and Pacific Ocean in the distance. We cooked our meals in the beautiful kitchen and ate in the many romantic areas of the home. We could not have been more comfortable in our deluxe king size bed in the enormous a/c master bedroom. The master bath is gorgeous with its large bathtub with 3 bay windows surrounding it to look out at nature at its best. The monkeys, an array of butterflies, toucans and many other birds were right outside our door. The horses were also all around but we didn't take the opportunity to go for a ride. If it sounds good to be in an outrageous home in the middle of some of the most gorgeous nature and be away from it all -- and you are away from it all -- this vacation home is for you. The owners of the home were a huge plus in our stay. We went out on their boat 2 times and were introduced to Costa Rica in a way only people who live there could have done. Tom and Scheila and Randy made us feel like friends who wanted us to have the time of our lives -- and we did! What an amazing way to spend our 40th anniversary.

“"Who Says You Can't Have It All"!!”
Tom picked us up at the airport and thus began our tropical vacation at the "Luxury Ocean View House". We were only staying a week and wanted to pack as much fun filled activities into our short stay as possible. The accommodations were unbeleivable. The house is so open and airy with the warmth of teak wood (indigenous to Costa Rica) throughout the rooms which were so comfortably furnished. You are nesteled in the middle of the mountains with these awsome views of the ocean and the jungles surrounded by nature. We felt like we were in our own private castle. Most mornings, we headed out to the beach to surf (sunrise is early in Costa) and the waves got better with each passing day. By afternoon, we were on the boat heading out to some secret fishing spot (Tom knows) to catch some dinner. Of course, you could also catch some fine dining in town too, and Tom knows all the hot spots. But for us, most nights we cooked out on the veranda to take advantage of the fresh caught fish and the awsome sunsets. Entertainment was provided by the locals- the monkeys would come down out of their trees and find their way up to our deck to see what was cooking. Nature at it's best. They did keep us laughing. As the sun went down, you could find us in the pool (infinity pool, so cool) margueritas in hand planning tomorrows adventures. Did I mention that there is a casino in town (for the gambler at heart) loved it!! We slept the night like babies in comfortable beds breathing in that crisp mountain air. I have to say we had a completely stress free vacation with our guides Tom and Scheila taking care of our every need. They are both extremely knowledgable of the Costa Rica countryside and go out of their way to see you have an unforgettable vacation. I can't think of one negative thing to say except I wish we could of stayed longer. Thanks Tom and Schelia!!!
“Wonderful vacation & looking forward to our return visit !!!”
Great location, excellent personal service, amazing property. We had 4 adults and 2 children stayed Nov 20-27 and had more than enough luxurious room. The house really made the experience feel like we were part of Costa Rica rather than tourists. The owners, Thomas and Scheila, are wonderful and ensured we had everything for a perfect stay. The house is great, very clean, well kept and private. Plus, almost mosquito free which is a must! We had a great time fishing and really enjoyed having a guide and driver the whole time. We are already thinking about our trip for next year.
