You will feel the magic wandering through the bustling streets of the charming old town with its many typical Mediterranean village streets and the cities sandy beaches are great for a perfect holiday with family and friends.
In June 11, 1485 the area became part of the Spanish Crown and the Catholic Monarchs made it capital of the region. It is at that time when Plaza de los Naranjos was built which then became the center of administrative and civil power of the city.
From the second half of the twentieth century Marbella became popular with the jet set and experienced a continued growth due to tourism and residential development for well heeled visitors.
Every year at the beginning of June, Marbella pays homage to its patron saint Bernard with a fair that lasts one week. The Marbella fair includes all the traditional elements of an Andalusian fair: food, drink and dancing. If you are visiting the city during that time, do not miss it!
For shopaholics, the place to visit is the Port of José Banús, more commonly known as Puerto Banus, a luxury marina opened in 1970 which since then has become one of the biggest entertainment centers of the Costa del Sol, famous globally. Its streets are filled with exclusive boutiques such as Dior, Gucci, Versace, Bvlgari, Dolce & Gabbana etc.
In Marbella downtown you can also find a marina surrounded by the most visited beaches. After a nice walk on the promenade, the marina is the perfect place for a drink or for a bite to eat.
