Casa Rosina is an apartment located in a farmhouse, consisting of three buildings of two floors recently built and divided into several apartments, each of them with its own entrance, balcony or terrace and private garden. The residence's quiet and airy surroundings include a green olive grove, typical of the Cilento National Park . The beach and the sea are well within 500 meters (546 yards) away, and you can reach them by walking along a private path among the shady olive trees. The beach, five kilometers long (three miles), is sandy and wide, terminating at the south end with a foaming reef.
As a guest of the farmhouse you can use the large sun deck with warm outside showers, the kids' playground, and the volleyball and basketball courts. You will organize charming events with your friends in the private garden, making pizza in the brick oven or cooking on the barbecue, accompanied by music and dancing. You will also enjoy the orchard, where there are fruit trees of all kinds, and where you can discover the taste of truly fresh fruit.
Casa Rosina is 60 square meters (645 square feet) large, for max six persons, with three rooms and it is simply and comfortably furnished. It has an independent entrance, a garden equipped with table, chairs, and deck chairs and a covered terrace of 25 square meters (270 square feet). Great vacation off the beaten track...

We rented Casa Rosina for two weeks in July. The rooms are basic but clean. The location is great with olive grooves and lemon trees all around and just a short walk from the beach and shops. The owner is very helpful and nice. It is somewhat off the beaten track and it takes a while to get there from the Autostrada. We visited Pompeiji, Vesuvio Paestum, Palinuro Caves (very nice), Amalfi coast on one day excursions and it worked well. We definatily recommends this place and are considering going back next year!

Family fun in Southern Italy

Traveling to Italy was our first family vacation abroad. Never having attempted an overseas trip with children before, we needed simple and clear guidance. We had specific needs - our children were 8, 6 and 4 years old at the time, and though we are proud of how well they travel, they're still kids, and needed a place to run and feel safe. Summer in Italy made it very simple to choose and rent a property that suited our needs.
We chose Casa Rosina in Ascea Marina, in the Cilento area, based on its location, near the beach, town, trains and grocery. We didn't rent a car, but with this propery we didn't find that we needed one. The owner of the property was a joy - friendly, helpful, and a very good dancer - and has become a lifelong friend.
The house itself was basic, like one would rent at any shore location (only this shore was the Mediterranean!). Two bedrooms, sleeping six people, up to date kitchen, not large, but fine for all the cooking we had to do. The living room was really the porch, since so much of the living in Ascea is done outdoors.
My girls loved the beach, and at the property they took full advantage of the swingset, the pizza oven, the ping pong, the dance floor, the acres of fruit trees with lucertolas scurrying through the grass. My husband and I loved the beautiful beach, the outstanding restaurants, the darling shops and the ease with which to travel to Naples, Pompeii, Paestum, the ruins of Velia, and the Amalfi Coast. We had the perfect mix of leisure and activity.
Everyone we met was helpful and kind, the food was delicious, the sites outstanding.
Our neighbors at this property enjoyed the freedom of a car, but we were never in a hurry, so walking to the store and waiting on a train didn't bother us.
We didn't find many people in Ascea that spoke English, so our beginners Italian course came in very helpful.
We will definitely return.
