My husband and I spent a romantic weekend alone at the house last Feb. We loved it so much; we rented both units in June-Raspberry House and Elephant Studio-for our whole family. This was a perfect set-up; my parents in the house with the three kids (9, 11, 13. We took the studio for what seemed like a second honeymoon - the units are separate - each w/private garden and deck.
There was so much to see and do the kids left their electronics in the suitcases! They spent a lot of time on the deck, built right over the water watching dolphins, seals, exotic birds and were absolutely thrilled seeing otters play right there!
At nighttime, my Mom baked cookies one night, popcorn the next, Dad lit a fire and told "campfire stories". The kids forgot about their usual evening routine-TV/video games-in favor of the cozy fire and Grandpa's stories. The husband and I took it all in cuddled on the couch munching on Mom's goodies.
We booked a tour with Rob. He first sat down with all of us to find out what our interests are and instantly planned the tour just for us. All three kids are still drawing pictures of the places and things he showed us. Even my husband, a big city attorney who thinks casual means slacks, a dress shirt with the sleeves rolled-up, etc, was fascinated by where we were taken and what we saw in and around the National Park. We were so mesmerized we extended our tour time with Rob.
We never would have seen a fraction of what he showed us on our own. Talk about abundant wildlife and incredible scenery - OMG!
The local bakeries and restaurants Rob suggested were unbelievably good. Not just good for a rural area, but compared with the best where we live.
We couldn't have asked for better family vacation memories no matter where in the World we went. We've already made our reservation for next year and expect to make this an annual family vacation destination.

At first we were reluctant to vacation at someone's house rather than a hotel or lodge. After the first phone discussion with the manager of Elephant Studio, we were convinced it might be a good idea. Good idea became a great vacation!
The studio is even more beautiful, delightful, artful and
well-built than the photos show. Sound of gentle waves lulled us to sleep at night. Seals, dolphins and endless varieties of birds greeted us as we sat on the deck drinking morning coffee.
Rob (the manager) worked out a great deal with the local kayak concession for us to rent boats for the whole time we were there. We kept them right there at the studio's boat ramp. We paddled to beaches inaccessible by car or on foot for picnics, solitude and romance.
When reading the description of Tomales Bay and Pt Reyes National Park we thought it was a bit exaggerated. Now that we've been there "subdued" is a better word for it. The bay, Pt Reyes, the locale, the entire area is absolutely wondrous!
This was everything a vacation is supposed to be!
