WATERFRONT 3BR 2 Bath Home TRANQUILITY ON THE BAY

Tranquility on the Bay is a recently renovated, beautiful, comfortable home perched over pristine Tomales Bay near Pt Reyes National Seashore in west Marin County. This 1,800 square foot home has a private fishing dock and wrap-around decking, Hot Springs spa, covered porch and gardens. The interior is like new, featuring a great room with stainless steel appliances, skylight, and granite counters in the kitchen, a large teak dining table, a stylish glass and steel breakfast bar, and a living area with a gas fireplace, large sofa and two post-modern chairs. These areas have panoramic views of the water and green hills across the bay, with access ...Read more

Additional Location Information

Marshall is a quiet fishing village and its primary industry is growing and harvesting oysters in pristine Tomales Bay, which is tidal, connecting to the ocean about four miles north and part freshwater fed by Lagunitas Creek from the south in Point Reyes Station. This area is great for bird watching, fishing, hiking, boating, or kayaking to a deserted beach across the bay. The quaint town of Point Reyes Station is located 8 miles south and has a couple fine restaurants including two of the best in the Bay Area, Osteria Stellina and Margaret Grade's Sir and Star (actually in Olema, two miles south). Nick's Cove bar-restaurant is also excellent and is 3 miles north of Marshall. Locals' night with live music is Tuesday and Wednesday is 50% off their superb wine list. Four miles farther north is Tomales, a village with a great bakery, and Dillon Beach is four miles west on the ocean. San Francisco is an hour south and Sonoma Wine County is less than an hour away, and Napa Valley is about an hour. Rancho Nicasio is 25 minutes southeast past the lovely Nicasio lakes and landscapes, featuring good food, a funky old western bar, and well-known musical acts in the ballroom. The nearest large town is Petaluma, about 25 minutes east with an interesting downtown where American Graffiti was filmed. There are many restaurants, the Lagunitas Brewery featuring live entertainment and their wonderful beers, and live music at McNear's Mystic Theater. Stinson Beach with its long sandy beach and quirky Bolinas is about 25 minutes south. Smiley's Saloon in Bolinas is the oldest in California and offers live music. Mt Tamalpais State Park offers panoramic views of San Francisco, the coastline, and the Bay Area from the tallest mountain around. You can drive to the top or hike on one of the many trails. Steep Ravine goes through a redwood forest and follows a creek, one of my favorites. There are too many interesting places in western Marin County to describe.
