The Stone House is operated by us (Jeff & Brenda - the owners) as a Homestay, meaning we will be in residence at the house as your hosts. As our homestay guests you will receive a complimentary continental or cooked breakfast. For your evening meal, you are welcome to join us (we charge $25 per head to cover the cost of food and beverages), or if you prefer to prepare your own meals, then you are welcome to use the extensive facilities in our kitchen and dining room whenever that suits you. Set among the vineyards of Martinborough, the property is quiet and private with a very pleasant rural outlook. The Martinborough town centre is a ten minute walk away and there are also some very pleasant walks around the neighbouring vineyards. Wellington (the capital city of New Zealand) can be reached by bus/train or car within 90 minutes. Martinborough and the neighbouring towns in the Wairarapa offer some great wine and food experiences and antique or boutique shopping opportunities. Other local outdoor activities on offer include: golf, tennis, horse riding, hunting and trout fishing.

Martinborough is renown for its fabulous Burgundy style red wines. There are over 30 local wineries, many offering lunch and wine tasting opportunities. There are several local bus companies that can be booked for a tour of the wineries, or maybe you would prefer to hire bikes and cycle around them.
