Additional Location Information

Staying at Gisella cottage you will be in a central position to discover the incomparable beauty of Sorrento Coast and Amalfi Coast.

The hamlet of Termini is in one of the Sorrento Coast´s least explored corners. It is near Marciano and Massa Lubrense in the rugged hills that cascade to the Mediterranean Sea. While the village is small, it has everything for daily life, including a grocer, a butcher, a pharmacy, some restaurants and coffee bars. There is even a ceramic shop and a limoncello vendor! The setting is beautiful, with the hills of the Sorrento Peninsula rising behind it and the turquoise sea beyond, with Capri and Li Galli islands in the picture. The piazza has an overlook that lets you take in the views. Termini is a nature lover´s destination, as the Marine Reserve of Punta Campanella starts here. There are trails that lead to neighboring villages, once-upon-a-time mule tracks that connected isolated towns together on a merchant network. Today, they are lovely hiking paths, some lead down to secluded coves and beaches, while others take you up to Monte Santa Costanza. The most famous destination of Termini is Punta Campanella, the very tip of the Sorrento Peninsula. The hike descends to the remains of a Saracen watch tower and a modern lighthouse, perched on the rocky cliff above the sea. The panorama is breathtaking, reaching across the Gulf of Naples and out to Capri. Other paths branch off, leading down to protected coves where you can swim in calm, crystal waters. It is part of the marine protected park, so you will enjoy uncontaminated nature. While the location immersed in nature may make it feel isolated, Termini is actually just ten kilometers to Sorrento, a lively and bustling city with lots to do, nightlife, tons of eateries and good shopping.

The establishment of the Marine Protected Area “Punta Campanella” has the aim to preserve one of the most beautiful and rich stretches of Italian coast from a naturalistic point of view, both for the terrestrial and for the underwater environment.

The 40 Km of coasts of the Peninsula Sorrentina are a succession of green promontories and welcoming inlets: the Baia di Ieranto is famous, since it offers to the visitor a unique landscape.

Despite the continuous spoils which mainly took place in the last half of the century, the seabed of the peninsula is still rich in precious evidences of the ancient trade activities involving the area. According to historical documents, we know that a Roman fleet with Julius Caesar wrecked near Punta and many ships sank.

From Sorrento it is possible to take day trips with fast, comfortable and inexpensive ferries to Capri and the other islands of the Gulf, to Amalfi and Positano.
