Lovely, well kept cottage in the heart of Kirkby Stephen

The cottage was very clean and well equipped. Local map sent to ensure we could get keys.

Loads of literature on local events and timetables, and information about the history of the cottage itself.

The rooms were lovely and bright and of a good standard of furniture.

Unfortunately no Internet access and limited mobile phone access, which is great if you want to escape from everyone :)

The accommadation is in the roof of the bungalow but has been very well designed and furnished to a high standard. We both enjoyed our experience there. We went walking around the local area and found plenty of places to visit or walk in. We would recommend The Hem to any one.

The cottage was really lovely. The kitchen was wonderful with everything you would wish for. The roll top bath was wonderful.

The barn is on a working farm but this didn't affect the holidayin any way. The owners were very nice and friendly. There was also a staic caravan site belonging to the farm, which was beautifully kept.

Great house.

This was an excellent place for a group to get together, we could go for walks from the property and watch red squirrels. The large kitchen/dining/sitting area was very sociable, the fire had been lit for our arrival and we had good communication with the owner. The only problem we had was finding it in the dark!

Outstanding like home from home

We had a wonderfull time at the cottage this was our second time here, and it was just as good as the first time. The couple who own the cottage are friend and helpfull nothing was to much trouble.

We had a week in this lovely cottage which was excellent throughout. The owners who live in the adjoining cottage were the font of knowledge when it was needed. Good location with two pubs within walking distance both with excellent food. If you wish to cook the facilities in the cottage kitchen were very good. The wood burner on cold evenings was a delight. All in all a brill holiday.

Truly a home from home

Immaculately presented, tastefully blending the original farmhouse with state of the art kitchen and bathrooms. The snug was so useful for the kids to watch TV! All the rooms were a generous size and beautifully furnished; we especially liked the huge sofas in the living room. This gorgeous cottage was the perfect escape for the 3 of us (2 adults and a dog). All equipment and facilities were good apart from the fact you had to mop the floor after a shower as the water leaked from under the tray. Not a massive problem and the only bit that needed sorting. We stayed for a week in this lovely cottage at the mouth of Kentmere, halfway between kendal and windermere.     We stayed at the cottage with a group of friends. The house is lovely and has anything you need, even fiber internet access. But still traditionally decorated and very cosy. Breathtaking views around the house. If you want to go hiking, just walk out of the house.     Cute, quiet and comfortable with beautiful views

    My family and I stayed in this cottage for several days while we vacationed/visted friends in and around Carlisle and the Lake District Park.
