This villa offers both rural setting but also walking distance to a village. It has a small private beach, a terrace over the water, a garden, outdoor dining under the wisteria vines, and easy access to Arona and Stresa. La Nuvola is an excellent choice for guests who want to be able to walk to a village.
La Nuvola is located on the statal road, in the village of Meina, with a private garden (1000 sqm) of roses and magnolias right on the lakeshore. Sunbathe on the large terrace that sits over a small secret harbor. The lake can be accessed from the small private beach just a few steps away. There is a small fishpond in the garden. It is not very large, just a couple of metres in diameter, but guests with small children should be aware of it (and we assume that you would not leave small children alone in a garden with direct lake access).
As with all houses in the village, there can be some noise from people and traffic. The lake road runs right behind the house, and the back of the house faces the road, but once you step into the garden, you will not feel to be in a noisy place. Only one room (the second floor twin) has windows facing the road.
Just behind the villa is a good and inexpensive pizzeria, and a sport center with tennis and pool is located approx. 300 metres away. Within 700 metres you can find good grocery shops and restaurants, and you can order delicious take-out meals at the nearby gastronomic shop. A bus stop is five minutes’ walk. Two golf courses are within 10-15 minutes’ drive, with several others less than an hour away. Just 10 km north is the elegant town of Stresa. Stresa calls invitingly to visitors: the Belle Epoch is now covered by patina, and the plaster is crumbing off the walls but to this day Stresa still exudes the elegance of a fin-de-siècle bathing resort. In the 19th century, the little town on the west shore of the lake was one of Italy's noblest spas. Arona is 4 km south.
Meina has a ferry connection to the other lake towns and islands docks. Day excursions to the Borromean and Brissago Islands, to Riviera Cannero, the romantic Lago di Orta with the San Giulio Island or the botanical gardens at the Villa Taranto are only a few of the many options. Switzerland is just half an hour away. Sailing, windsurfing, water-skiing as well as excellent golfing can be found nearby. In just one hour by train or car, you can spend the day shopping in the “golden fashion triangle” of Milan.
The bus stop is near to the house and you have connections to the Arona railway station from where you can easily reach Milan. Therefore, this accommodation is suitable if you wish to travel without a car: From the main station in Milan there is a direct, regular train connection (Cisalpino) to Arona, from where you can take a taxi for the last 4 km to the property. Once arrived you can make day trips by taxi or by bus.
Additional amenities include: small harbour to anchor a small boat, fans in all bedrooms, 4-ring gas hob, mosquito screens in the two bedrooms on the first floor, outdoor dining under wisteria vines, spacious terrace, private lake access....Read more

La Nuvola was a beautiful house, very well kept and in an excellent location, with a private beach and large garden. I would recommend this house to anyone who wants to be near the sights of Lago Maggiore; really the house itself was great. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is the road noise audible from one of the three bedroom; if you are a light sleeper, you will need earplugs to sleep in this room. Overall though, I was very happy with our stay!
