"Beautiful gem in Mexico Beach!"
Left on 07/26/2015 for a stay in July 2015
The only unfortunate aspect of our stay at this beach house was our vacation was too short! My husband and I, as well as our two dachshunds, have stayed many places in the Mexico Beach and Port St. Joe area. We loved this house in particular! The area was quiet, no immediate neighbors in close proximity, and situated just across the street from the marina. Coffee on the front porch watching the boats leave out each morning was so relaxing! All was clean, decorated very nicely, and this house had so much space I'm not sure we really saw most of the house. The living room had ample comfortable seating. This place would be wonderful for a big family, and we can't wait to bring the whole crew one day. The separate, fully functional cottage out back was adorable! I'm a dog-lover and it's always so difficult to find a place that's safe for them and also has a fenced in back yard. Much to our surprise, the beach within walking distance was pet-friendly because all coastline to the right is not part of Mexico Beach. In order for our dogs to enjoy the beach, we typically have to drive over to Port St. Joe, which for us is a long few minutes of loud howling... There were very few sand spurs around the yard and surrounding area which is always a plus!! We can't wait to return and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great vacation in the Mexico Beach area.
"Charming, Cute, Convenient"
Left on 07/12/2015 for a stay in July 2015
Our family of 4 (mom, dad, 13 and 11 year old kids) stayed here for 4 nights. Charming cottage that is as advertised -- great view from the front screen-in porch, nice amenities, and convenient to the beach. The kitchen and the house in general is well-equipped. We were very pleased with this cottage -- it was much more charming, in our opinion, than staying in a condo. If you are looking for a place with flat-screen tv's and strong wifi then this may not be the place for you. We enjoyed not checking our social media and having Scrabble and Mancala competitions with the board games provided by the owner. We enjoyed the beach across the road, the restaurants in Mexico Beach, a sunset cruise in Port St Joe (Seahorse Excursions). And, one day, when the water in Mexico Beach was not clear, drove 1 hour to St Andrews State Park and the water was clear (the beach water in the FL Panhandle can change drastically from one area to another). Windswept cottage was the perfect base for our vacation.
"Great house, unfortunate location"

We loved the house but there is a huge condominium complex located right across the street and their access to the beach is just to the east of the house. The beach in front of the house was lined with tents and umbrellas for most of the week (they allow you to keep your tent set up overnight so we didn't have an opportunity to set up in front of the house until the last few days). We ended up setting up down the beach in front of the vacant lot for most of the trip. This did not seem to be an issue for the other houses to the east and west of us.
The property managers (Forgotten Coast) were very responsive when it came to booking but after our stay I asked for a call back after and they never returned my call, even after repeated messages.
Otherwise, the trip was great. The house was comfortable, sand was beautiful, water was a little dirty, but sunsets off the deck were gorgeous!
"Wonderful beach house"

This is our 2nd time to stay at Peace Cottage. We love coming to Mexico Beach and this is a great place for a family. Really nice house, plenty of space, clean, furnished well, just steps to the beach.
"Beautiful oceanfront experience!"
Left on 04/08/2016 for a stay in March 2016
We found By The Sea to be the perfect oceanfront home for our family gathering. The house is situated perfectly on the beach such that when sitting on the large and comfortable porches you feel like you are the only house on the beach. Very nicely furnished throughout the home. We also enjoyed the bathrooms with large walk in showers and an excellent jacuzzi in the master bathroom. Standing or sitting in the master bedroom, kitchen, or living room offers you an expansive view of the ocean from any spot. my only suggestion which I noticed has been made before, is to provide a better set of pots and pans for those who like to cook a lot.
