“Best Villa in Milos” I stayed at this beautiful villa last year and it was one of the best places to spend your holiday! I've stayed in a few other hotels/ villa's on the island of Milos but I can safely say that I enjoyed Casa aiora the most! From the wonderful interior design, to the fantastic courtyard this place is perfect. It was great to wake up to delicious homemade snacks in the morning as well. There is a nice kitchen so if you choose to cook you have everything at your disposal to do so. The beds are very comfortable and the air condition is always a bonus on the warm Milos nights! There is parking nearby as well so you don't have leave your car down the bottom of the hill. The location is ideal as it is close enough to walk to most of adamas' bars, restaurants and cafe's but it is very secluded and sheltered from any of the party noises. The villa is wonderfully maintained, we didn't encounter any problems on our stay and it is cleaned very well daily! The owner Katy is very helpful and knows everything about the island and knows all the best beaches, restaurants and will also advise where to get your rental cars. Overall I couldn't have asked for anything more from my island holiday and will definitely be going back there next time I travel to Milos!

About Milos, Greece
An undiscovered Aegean gem, Milos is a part of the Cycladic chain of islands located about halfway between Athens and Crete. With an area of about 56 square miles, Milos is the fifth largest of Cyclades and has over 70 beaches, more than any other island.
Dating back to the Minoan civilization of Crete when Milos supplied them with obsidian, mining has been a big industry on Milos and is perhaps one of the reasons why tourism has been slow to develop.
A statue of the Greek Goddess Aphrodite was discovered on Milos in 1820 and sold to the French Consul who then gave it to King Louis XVIII of France as a gift.
The King immediately put the statue on display in the Louvre museum in Paris where it is still available for the world to see. You probably know it as the Venus de Milo.
What to do in Milos
The best way to see the Milos is to take an around-the-island boat tour from the port of Adamos stopping at the white sandy beach of Sarakiniko. Here, majestic white pumice rock formations contrast with the deep cobalt blue of the sea.
Visit the hilltop town of Plaka, the island’s true capital, and wander the narrow streets through the whitewashed houses so typical of Greek islands.
Visit the 13th-century Venetian castle before heading down to the harbor for a traditional Greek Island meze lunch at a waterfront tavern.
Other sights worth seeing include the early Christian Catacombs near the village of Tripiti that were cut by hand into the porous volcanic rock.
Still the European Union’s largest producer of bentonite and perlite, a visit to the mining museum is a must as it explains the civilizations and invaders that have mined the island’s riches for millennia.
Top travel tips for Milos
The best time of year to visit Milos is during the summer from the second week in May until the middle of October. Try to avoid visiting during the summer school vacation and especially in August when the Greeks take their vacations. This can mean more crowds.
You have several ways of getting to Milos that include a daily flight from Athens or by ferry or hydrofoil from the Port of Piraeus. Combine your stay on Milos with visits to some of the other islands, with Sifnos just an hour away and Santorini two hours by hydrofoil.
