An elegant and comfortable 18th century home in Modica's historic centre, renovated by a Florentine architect. It combines brand new amenities, WI-FI, A/C, and contemporary style, with historic character. Nestled in a charming, residential neighbourhood, it's steps from Modica's lively cafes, restaurants, and stunning Baroque architecture.

This 90sq m palazetto features original stone floors, domed ceilings and sandstone archways, alongside air conditioning, all-new, contemporary furniture, and marble kitchen counters. Enjoy coffee on the balcony with a view of Modica's historic castle, or relax with a glass of Sicilian wine in your private interior terrace. Ideal for five people, it can comfortably accommodate seven, thanks to a comfortable fold-out sofa.

Modica offers urban amenities and relaxed charm. It also makes a great base to explore southeastern Sicily, including UNESCO world heritage sites, Blue Flag beaches, hiking trails and nearby gorges, and Greek and Roman ruins.

La Margherita is located in the historic centre of town and everything you need is within easy walking distance. Most stores and banks are closed in the afternoon so plan to visit banks and grocery stores/markets in the early morning to avoid disappointment. Most things reopen at 5, but banks are only open for a short period of time in the mid-afternoon.

Maximum occupancy is for 7 people. Although our house is located in the historic centre of town, the surrounding streets are residential. La Margherita is a quiet neighbourhood and excessive noise is discouraged any time of day, but especially after 11pm.

You can take the highway (A18) from Catania towards Gela to its end at Rosolini (highway to Gela has not been completed) and continue on to Modica BASSA (Old Town) from Rosolini through Ispica. You could also take the secondary road (more scenic) SP194 off the A18 and towards Ragusa and then on to Modica Bassa. Follow signs to CENTRO or Old Town (indicated by bullseye road signs).

House rules

Recommended for families with infants and kids over the age of 5. As the house is on 2 levels with stone stairs between the first and second floor, it would not be advisable for young children or for anyone who has mobility issues.

Although we are located in the historic centre of town, our home is on a quiet street and excessive noise after 11pm is strictly forbidden.
