SNOWMOBILERS - READ THIS!
At our cabin you are in the heart of snowmobiling heaven, truly a world class snowmobiling destination. And sledding is easy: just step out the door, hop on your sled and hit the trail. No need to trailer your sled anywhere; the access trail runs right in front of the cabin and connects you to numerous well-groomed trails maintained by several clubs in the surrounding area. The conditions vary with snowfall, of course, but you can generally count on awesome action January through March
You can spend days exploring the numerous scenic local trails; head-up along the Pisqatiquis river, climbing the canyon to the crest and take in 360 degree vistas of the distant mountains. If your sled is itchin' for more continue on your way to the Forks and the Kennebec river—hookup with ITS87/ITS86 and . . . it's virtually limitless.
ITS 85 runs through the woods just above the cabin, literally a minute away on the access trail. A great ride is to head northwest which provides a beautiful ride to Greenville and a fun day blasting around on 40 mile long Moosehead Lake ringed by snowcapped mountain peaks. If you can get yourself to stop; take a break and enjoy the local eateries/pubs and shopping. Lots of cool things to do for a fun filled day trip. Either direction on ITS 85 you can connect with numerous local trails offering scenic loops meandering through winter wonderscapes. ITS 85 is regularly groomed and maintained by local clubs creating some exceptional sledding and fast action.
A great ride and a fun evening of relaxation is to take the local trail up the mountain above the cabin into Monson; which is a beautiful ride snaking through the forest and, when conditions are safe for sledding on the ice (check the trail report), follow the trail directly across lake Hebron to the Lakeshore Pub for some outstanding grub and great Maine mountain hospitality. Note: Trail condition reports are easily accessible and will help assess the safety of the ice on local ponds and lakes.
There are also several scenic local loops, thanks to the dedication of the local clubs so you can go out for a ride for an hour or two and not have to return on the same trail. One great one takes you up around Mt. Russell above the tiny picturesque town of Blanchard, looping down pass Whetstone pond and connecting with ITS87, bringing you back home along the old rail bed.
If you like to sled you've come to the right place.
Note: Effective 1/1/2015 the rent amount will no longer include the 8% Maine tax. The total fee will be the rent amount, plus 8% of that amount.

On FlipKey you can find a lot of nice properties. However, one thing that means just as much if not more to me is the owner. I have met quite a few great owners but this owner went well above and beyond. Prior to me making the decision to rent she provided me with a ton of great links to things to do in the area, maps, personal information on favorite places, fishing spots, all kinds of stuff. After the deposit was paid they remained in touch with me and helped me in many ways since this was my first vacation to Maine. On to the property.
If you are looking for a property that is out of the way yet not far from a lot of fun nature things to do then this spot is perfect. The house was super clean, well remodeled and well appointed. There is no cable TV, no internet and no cell phone coverage (however there is a home phone for use). This was exactly what we were looking for. What there is, is peace and quiet and time to reconnect with your family/loved ones. There are dozens and dozens of great movies from new release block busters to older classics to great indie movies and children's movies. Dozens of whole seasons of TV shows, series' and fun things to watch, from True Blood to CSI to Weeds and everything in between. Board games and other activities.
The pictures do not do this place justice. It is a brand new remodel and they did a fantastic job. Completely furnished and provisioned for your vacation. The river is right across the road less than 100' from the front of the house. There is a brook running down the side house about 75' from the house. The soothing sound of the brook is something nice to fall asleep to. There is a small grill to use to cook out some hot dogs or a few burgers.
We really enjoyed our vacation here. It was one of the best we have had in a lot of years. It was so nice and relaxing. Getting to fish in the river across the road and catch some brook trout and small mouth bass. If we ever return to Maine it'll be here!
