Villa Chiusa offers captivating views, private infinity pool and pool house
If spending the night in a former police station doesn’t appeal at first, the warm, elegant Villa Chiusa will change your mind. Four bedrooms divided between a main house and guest house offer plenty of space and privacy, and the property’s infinity pool wows with panoramic views of the countryside around Montalcino. Plus, there’s plenty to explore around the villa on the Castiglion del Bosco estate on which it’s located.
Each day at Villa Chiusa starts with delivery of a pastry basket. From there, enjoy a dip in the heated pool, a hike around the estate or a round on the estate’s golf course. Have a snack in the pool house’s kitchenette, or return to the villa for lunch or dinner at the outdoor dining area. In the evening, get out the video or board games, browse via Wi-Fi access, sip a cocktail from the mini-bar and stay comfortable in air conditioning.
The villa’s warm, traditional interiors give no sign of their police-station past, save for terracotta floors and beamed ceilings. In the living room, plush sofas and armchairs cozy up to the fireplace, perked up by a red and white color scheme. A separate media room is a quiet spot to read, watch TV or take in the pastoral scenes hung on the walls. The roomy dining room is open to the fully equipped eat-in kitchen, which has its own doors out to the terrace.
There are three bedrooms in the main house at Villa Chiusa, and one bedroom in the guest house. Each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom and flat-screen TV. In the main house, you’ll find two bedrooms with king beds; one has a walk-in closet and the other has a fireplace. The third bedroom has two twin beds. In the guest house, the bedroom has a king bed.
During your stay, be sure to take the time to walk around the Castiglion del Bosco estate and experience the famed Val d’Orcia landscape up close. If a dinner out strikes your fancy, there’s a restaurant about 1 mile away. The town of Montalcino is about 7 miles away, and there’s a hospital 28 miles away. The Florence airport is 75 miles away, the Pisa airport is 99 miles away and the Rome airport is 143 miles away.

Castiglion del Bosco is an age-old Tuscan estate. Its vineyards, fields, woods, farmhouse villas and ancient church bear witness to the care and attention of generations of farmers, landowners, artists and architects.
The estate lies within the confines of the Val d'Orcia, an undulating landscape known for its enchanting beauty and seductive juxtaposition of colors and textures. Deep green in spring and golden in fall, this gentle land is also rich in art and culture. Carefully preserved ancient sites, dating back to the Etruscan era, blend in with art from the Medieval and early Renaissance periods. The area is also famous for its agriculture. The vineyards of the Val d'Orcia, including Castiglion del Bosco's own, produce one of the most coveted Italian red wines, Brunello di Montalcino, and its younger sibling, Rosso di Montalcino.
In addition to their deep-rooted appreciation for art, history, food and wine, Tuscans are great sports enthusiasts and Castiglion del Bosco offers ample opportunities to appreciate outdoor life to the full. Though a recent arrival, the 18-hole championship-standard Castiglion del Bosco Golf Club is already being ranked among the finest in Italy by golfing professionals. The extensive wooded hills and valleys on the vast estate provide endless scope for trekking, mountain biking, nature walks and hunting with the resident game warden. Fly fishing, horseback riding and hot-air ballooning are also among the activities offered on site.
From Castiglion del Bosco, all of Tuscany is within easy reach.
