This is the perfect starting point to explore Tuscany. Located in the heart of Chianti, Borgo in Rosa is just 20 minutes from Florence, 50 minutes from Siena, one hour from Lucca, and all of the beautiful hill towns of Chianti are within easy reach. The location couldn't be better. The closest village, Mercatale Val di Pesa, has shops and restaurants and is just 5 minutes away by car (2 km) or 15 minutes walking across the fields. In the proximity of the estate there is a great variety of small trattorias and specialty restaurants - each night you can dine in a new place (you will find a list of recommendations and helpful hints about the region in your apartment). Facilities for horseback riding are nearby (3 km).
Completely restored in 2011, Borgo in Rosa was once an old mill and a barn, and is surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and fields of sunflowers. A short drive along a country lane lined with cypresses (400 meter dirt road) leads to the property. The shared pool is located among the olive trees. All of the apartments have an outdoor area for al fresco dining, and there is also a large common area with lounges and umbrellas where large groups can gather together. Each accommodation has been furnished with love and care, with Tuscan-colored walls, terracotta floors, original art and antiques, and beautiful fabrics. All of the bedrooms are air-conditioned. There is a laundry room with washing machine in the main building, accessible to all guests. The owners live in a separate villa across the garden; they are fluent in English and are happy to help guests during their stay.
Weddings and receptions on request: In the garden there is an elegantly decorated loggia, ideal for small parties and receptions (catering and chef service upon request).
The Chianti area
The hills of Chianti, criss-crossed with vines and crested with cypress trees have become the hallmark of Tuscany, the beauty of the landscape married to a quality of life which would be rare anywhere in the world. Chiantishire, as the English call it, has an infinite variety of hilltop villages where you can sip a cappuccino in one of the outdoor cafe's in the medieval squares, of cellars where you can sample the local wines from the barrels, of little trattorias serving robustly satisfying Tuscan food with its hams and salamis and delicious pastas and wild boar stew with white beans and salads growing wild in the hedgerows. The back roads wind uphill and down, between old stone walls crested with pale violet irises past Romanesque cloisters, sandstone farmhouses and shepherds with their flocks of sheep producing the famed 'pecorino' cheese.
You are in the heart of Tuscany and the list of excursions half or a whole day away is long: Florence, famous for its fine Renaissance art, the walled city of Lucca with its 99 churches, the leaning tower of Pisa, the Val d'Orcia with the Renaissance town of Pienza and the wine-making meccas of Montepulciano and Montalcino and the awe-inspiring abbey of Sant'Antimo are just a few...
Florence is 15 to 20 minutes away, Greve in Chianti 25 minutes, San Gimignano 30 minutes, while Siena can be reached in 50 minutes. Montalcino and Pienza are a one and a half hour's drive, while the Thyrrenian sea is one hour away. Pisa and Lucca are one hour by car while the jet-set sea resort of Porto Ercole can be reached in approx. one and a half hours.
Airports and transport
The Florence airport is 25 kilometres away and Pisa is at 118 kilometres, while the airport in Rome is less than three hours away and approx. 290 kilometres further south. The nearest railway station with most travel options is Florence.
Additional amenities include: for communal use: bbq, laundry room with a washing machine in the main building, microwave/convenction oven, all apartments are equipped with air-conditioned bedrooms, tennis table, football table, 5 bikes, hair dryers, if rented by a large group it is possible to put a table suitable for 22 people or in one of the largest units or on the terrace facing the pool, american coffee maker, outdoor areas for each unit.TripAdvisor property ID 2049573...Read more

What a find!! There are so many places to stay in Tuscany, but this amazing property is truly not to be missed. From the minute we arrived at Borgo in Rosa we were overwhelmed by the beauty of the villa, the warm and attentive service from the owners, Andrea and Claudia, and the unfailing attention to every possible detail.
We stayed in Villa 1, one of their two three-bedroom villas, and andrea and Claudia have gone to great lengths to anticipate their guests' every need. The villa was beautifully and expertly appointed with every possible modern amenity, and although the villas are naturally quite cool, there is air conditioning in each of the bedrooms. The bedrooms themselves are spacious, attractive and very comfortable and the bathrooms modern and plentiful.
The property is stunning and meticulously cared for. You have the sense of being the only ones for miles around, yet you are actually very close to several charming towns (San Casciano in Val di Pesa and Mercatale) and only 25 minutes drive from the center of Florence, making the location an ideal mix of country seclusion with easy access to tourist attractions and shopping.
There is a gorgeous pool which we used every day of our two week stay, and it is the icing on the cake of this property. There are plenty of chaise lounges - with cushions - and umbrellas, and the pool receives full sun from sun up to sundown, ensuring that the water is always the perfect temperature. Many days we went in the pool both morning and afternoon and my two young daughters had hours of fun!
Andrea and Claudia are the most helpful, present and courteous owners I have ever come across, and they are ready to help with almost any request imaginable. We would have loved the property regardless, but their continued assistance and throughly relaxed and friendly manner made a great visit all the more memorable.
