This 1925 Mediterranean-style 5-bedroom, 3-bath home is the epitome of luxury, with countless touches that make it a desirable site for a family reunion, a wedding party or multiple families vacationing together.
The home has views over rooftops to Monterey Bay and is only 1 block from the stunning shoreline. It is just minutes to the quaint downtown, Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
Upon your arrival you will be greeted with complimentary hors d'oeuvres and wine or sparkling cider, passes to the renown Spa on the Plaza in downtown Monterey, tickets for a wine tasting at Scheid Vineyards’ tasting room in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea and a basket of local information. An assigned concierge vacation house manager is available to assist you during your stay. We have also provided spa amenities in the bathrooms, plush spa bathrobes, oversized towels and beach gear.
Enter through a weathered wooden gate that opens to a romantic courtyard and a columned veranda with 4 French-paned glass doors and a wooden door that is the entry. A spacious foyer opens to the kitchen on the left and a formal dining room on the right.
The living room is a wonderful space for large gatherings, with windows that face the bay, hardwood floors, a gas fireplace and a window seat. Furnishings include 2 contemporary beige couches, an easy chair, a coffee table and matching end tables, area rug and a wood console table with nautilus lamp. Coastal art completes the decor.
The adjacent sunroom, with its walls of glass and partial bay views, is a great spot for enjoying morning coffee at 4 wicker chairs around a glass-topped table.
The bright, cheery kitchen has granite countertops, tile floors, stainless steel appliances and a large island with a gas stovetop, a prep sink and 2 stools. Open shelving displays handsome dishes and glassware. Casual meals can be enjoyed at a white table with built-in seating and 2 chairs.
A fenced back yard, with mature trees, includes a brick patio with a table, chairs and a gas grill for dining al fresco.
The spacious dining room, with a wall of glass doors and built-in shelves displaying seashells, is the perfect setting for formal dinner parties or family meals. A long wooden table with upholstered chairs can seat 12-15.
A den with a wet bar has a queen sleeper sofa. A wood coffee table can be elevated for eating while watching shows or movies on a 50” HDTV with Blue Ray DVD.
A bedroom, which faces the back yard, has 2 twins (convertible to a king with Memory Foam topper) with luxury linens, 2 white side tables, sea-themed lamps, a table and chair.
An attractive bathroom, with old-fashioned black and white tiles, has a tub-shower combination.
The 2nd story is filled with unique touches seldom seen in newer homes. A charming alcove has a day bed that can sleep one and built-in shelves holding a 40” HDL TV, Blue Ray DVD and video library.
The master - with gorgeous water views - is unbelievably spacious and has a king bed, white end tables, sea urchin lamps, an electric fireplace, a chaise and a double-width window bed with sea-foam blue coverlets.
The luxury master bath has a deep soaking tub with shower, 2 sinks and a walk-in closet.
A 2nd upstairs bedroom has a white cottage queen with luxury linens, 2 white side stands and seashell lamps and a tall white bureau.
A delightful dormer room can accommodate up to 5 guests. It has a queen bed, a twin bed and a day bed with trundle. Other furnishings include an antique dresser, sea-themed lamps, white shag area rugs and whimsical mermaid pillows.
A bathroom with a tub-shower is available for the upstairs guest bedrooms.
One compact and 1 standard-sized car can be parked in the garage. There is a separate laundry room. Well behaved dogs are welcome.

Great old home with great bones and character. Well furnished and kitchen was perfectly stocked for someone like me that enjoys cooking.
Big home with rooms of "scale". We had a family of 4 adults and two children and we had Privacy!!
Very close to the ocean and all our modern day conveniences.
"Expansive and beautiful home, perfect for a retreat!"

We were delighted with this spacious home within walking distance of the Monterey Bay and the recreational trail. Ten women enjoyed cooking in this incredibly equipped kitchen, as well as gathering together in large rooms to chat, or find a small area for quiet time. We loved that we could walk home from our beautiful Big Sur Half Marathon on Monterey Bay!

We stayed here with two other couples and 4 kids. The pictures do not do justice to how nice this home is. The bedrooms are large and the upstairs has incredible views of the ocean. The house is big enough that everyone felt that they had their own space. It is a 1 minute walk to the beach where all of the seals are laying in the sun.
Look no further, this is a great place. The management company who rents this home out was also extremely friendly and easy to deal with.

This house is located perfectly just blocks from the bay and popular sites of Pacific Grove and Monterey. Whether you have a large or small group, the house has the rooms, bathrooms and amenities that are so well appointed. The kitchen has all the appliances that you will need with plenty of dishes, glassware to accommodate a large party. The house was extremely clean and service provided by the house manager above board. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.

We fell in love with this house immediately upon walking in the door, and couldn't stop raving about it during our stay. We can't wait to return sometime!
Some of the things we loved about it:
- Comfortable luxury, many wonderful different spaces throughout the home to hang out in, ample room making it perfect for extended family
- The decor was beautiful, serene and very comfortable
- We loved all the architectural details throughout the historic home, it had so much charm
- Great care went into all the furnishings, plush rugs, luxurious beds and bedding, cozy throws, right down to the wonderfully thoughtful collection of books and games for the whole family
- The light-filled kitchen is spectacular and has everything you need
- The master bedroom is absolutely gorgeous, spacious and romantic
- My kids loved the dormer room, and I thought it was the most charming room for kids I've ever seen
- The home is in a great location, a short walk from the beach and from the aquarium. The path on the shore is just breathtaking. We saw seals, otters, and a gray whale while walking there
- Having rented both homes managed by owners and by management companies, I really liked the responsiveness and professionalism of the House Manager Kim Crozier and everyone I talked with at Sanctuary Vacation Rentals.
It was an amazing vacation and we can't wait to return!

We rented Villa Escondido for a 40th Birthday celebration with 10 women. The managers of the property were fantastic to work with making sure we had all the accommodations necessary. They arranged the perfect amount of beds, bedding towels and even prepared a welcome basket for our arrival.
We noticed all the details, the effort they put in to make the house spectacular. From all the kitchen amenities to the candles that go on with a click of a button, the furnishings were divine and all brand new! Close proximity to the beach and walking trails. It could not have been better, we all felt we were away at a luxury hotel for the weekend.
We all felt we want to book it again for another trip this year. Thank you to Kim at Sanctuary Vacations for making it such a spectacular weekend.
