Tuscan Apartment in Historic Castle - Il Castello Freschi
If you have ever had a hankering to stay in a historic Castle in Tuscany amidst vineyards and Chianti towns, this fits the bill. Owned by a Florentine family, this castle estate is well located for day trips throughout the region. There is a restaurant onsite open six days a week and a lovely garden and pool area. The castle has been divided into several apartments. In addition, there is a farmhouse and other units on the estate that share the castle grounds and pool.
This large castle estate has an English garden, vineyards, olive trees, lemon trees, plants, and flowers. Beside the castle there is a farmhouse and other units that share the grounds, a reception area (open 8:30 am to 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm) and restaurant (open every night but Wednesdays from April to October). There is a shared swimming pool (12m x 6m) surrounded by a sun deck with sun loungers. The pool is open from early April to the end of October. Parking is available within the property grounds.
This apartment is located within the southern wing of the 12th century castle. There are a total of 33 apartments in the castle.

Mezzanine Ground Floor: There is one double bedroom with a queen size bed (160 cm) and an en suite bathroom with shower. A few steps higher lead to the dining-room with access to the kitchen and to a nice terrace furnished for outdoor meals looking over one of the courtyards of the castle.

We had a very pleasant stay and would recommend the property.
The location and the castle itself.
Two things: (1) Our bedroom window did not have a screen. We requested one the second day we were there and the staff told us a repair man would be coming the next day. However, we never received a screen. As a result, our sleeping conditions were uncomfortable and our baby received over 15 mosquito bites. (2) The steep circular stair to access the kitchens and bedrooms was very charming, but was also dangerous for young children. We constantly had to watch the children on the stairs. I wish this would have been mentioned in the description of the property.
We enjoyed watching the grape harvest and wine processing.
