La Fenice - Charming restored property in Luberon

Beautifully restored, 3 bedroom 19th century property with stunning views of the Alps, private garden and pool located in the middle of the Luberon – ideal for relaxing, exploring and sport activities.

Hard to find a better place to relax. Montjustin has 54 inhabitants, no through car trafic, no noise and no pollution. The only commerce in the village is a small "Bistrot de Pays".

La Fenice is the original “mas” which has been carefully restored and tastefully decorated, with a stone fireplace and terracotta floor tiling throughout. The villa and the grounds, at the top of the village (the lane stops just past your back door) with incredible ...Read more

Additional Location Information

La Fenice is in a stunning position looking out from the old bastion of Montjustin, a pretty hilltop hamlet with panoramic views over the beautiful Luberon countryside. The fascinating market towns of Apt and Forcalquier are just twenty minutes away; Avignon and Aix en Provence an hour’s drive; Marseille Airport and the Mediterranean a further quarter of an hour.

The villa and the grounds are at the top of the village (the lane stops just past our back door) and constitute the old castle keep. There is a superb lookout point (on clear days you can see the Alps) from one of the original towers.

La Fenice is a wonderful place to do nothing but it’s equally a superb base for exploring the Gorges du Verdon, the Fontaine de Vaucluse, the Camargue and the Roman towns of Provence – all within easy reach for a day trip.

For the more active holiday goers, the beautiful Luberon golf course is 15 km away, Cereste has excellent tennis courts, and horse riding is minutes away in the valley.

Finally, this is a wonderful walking country. Whether you want to take a short stroll to the ruins of the 16th century church, a leisurely walk to the village cemetery or longer walks through the park, they all start at your doorstep. Superb walks can be taken particularly via the medieval path that links Manosque to Apt (more widely known as the GR4) and which traverses Montjustin.
