La Brasserie is on the outskirts of the charming medieval town of Montmorillon, in Vienne , which is part of the Poitou Charentes region of France. It is a 19th century house with lovely high ceilings, authentic original marble fireplaces, large windows and furnishings to suit the period and large proportions. We provide a Quality & Eco-friendly service.
We are an hours drive away from Poitiers and Limoges Airports and Boulogne is just over 6 hours drive.
Loft Apartment [105 m²] blends the old with new in a complementary style. We have kept the lovely oak roof supports exposed, in the large main room [living, dining room and kitchen], whereas the 2 bedrooms and shower room retain the light, bright and comfortable atmosphere, but are not so high. It is a spacious flat of, which can easily accommodate it's maximum of 5 people.
Tables and chairs are in the garden, so that you can eat a meal or just sit and relax when you like. For the Apartment the main entrance of the house is used, whereas we have a separate entrance for our own accommodation.
Montmorillon is a beautiful historic town with the river Gartempe meandering through it and many chapels and churches to explore. Archaeological remains suggest it has been occupied since pre-historic times. The charming medieval centre has been restored “ Cité de l’Ecrit ” [“city of writing”] and it is well worth wandering around the streets looking into the book and calligraphy shops, or sitting having a drink and watch the world go by. Market day [Wednesday] is a good day to visit the town, because the sleepy town seems to wake up. All the facilities you could wish for are in Montmorillon: restaurants, cafés, tea rooms, shops, supermarkets, banks, post office, doctors, pharmacies and more.
We are in the Poitou Charentes area, in the charming Vienne region of France, which has medieval towns, pretty villages, chateaux, fields of sunflowers and maize, large rivers and valleys, woodlands, an abundance of wildlife and of course gourmet food. There are some beautiful walks locally, which have distinctive signs and maps, from the tourist office, to follow. There are lakes and rivers that have man made beaches for swimming, as well as fishing, kayaking, water skiing, wind surfing and sailing. There are many other outdoor pursuits: horse riding, golf, bungee jumping, micro lighting, 4x4 off roading and motor racing. There are many places to see: from amazing architecture at L’Abbaye de St Savin and the relaxing square it is in; to Angles sur l’Anglin with it’s ruined fortress on the hill and the pretty village with antique shops, restaurants and cafés and then there is Vienne’s historic and vibrant Poitiers with good restaurants, sightseeing and shopping, which is under an hours drive. Some attractions for the whole family are: Futuroscope; Valley of the Monkeys “Vallée des Singes”; The beautiful flower Gardens “Parc Floral de la Belle”; Snake Island “Isle aux Serpents”; The Giants of the Sky “les Géants du Ciel” displays of birds of prey in a ruined castle and the bicycle rail “Velo Rail”.TripAdvisor property ID 3740418...Read more

What another amazing holiday. Our 10th visit so it's been 10 Heavenley trips for us.
The time has flown, the wine has flowed, the laughter has echoed around the garden, the bikes have been used, the clean spacious apartment relaxed in, the garden admired - holidays and hosts don't get any better than this. Montmorillon has shown its magic once again and all too soon it's over for us again but as ever we will be back!
John & Carol you are still amazing hosts and our year would not be complete without a visit - we love it here! We love sharing the magic of Vienne ... magic created by you both.

Our family of 4 enjoyed our stay in the Loft. It was our first time at a chambres d'hotes, so I was not sure what to expect. We were very impressed! The Gardiner's were welcoming, friendly and speak both English and French.
The Brasserie is a charming home that has been updated inside with modern conveniences. The loft is very spacious. Everything was immaculate. The bathroom and kitchen were modern. The kitchen was equipped with linens, flatware, cooking utensils, pots/pans, serving pieces. There is also a washer.
The kitchen is open to a large living space with ample seating and a tv/dvd player. It is very spacious, with lots of natural light that comes through large skylights that can be opened. The exposed wood beams are beatiful. The two bedrooms were good size with comfortable beds and ample storage space. The garden was charming, with seating and an area to dry laundry.
The Brasserie is about a 5 minute drive to the quaint town of Montmorrilon and about 1 hour from Poitiers, where there is a lot to see and do.
The only drawback, which was not a problem for us, are the stairs to reach the Loft.
We highly recommend the Brasserie to anyone visiting the area.
This review is lovely. Is your mother health ok and is she still selling the house in Montmorillon? It would be a shame if you have not got a reason to come over and enjoy the French pace of life again.

Excellent co-operation from owner.
Loved the apartment
Location not as we expected, would have preferred closer to town. No car so we had long hot walks to and from rental. We really liked the quiet location in the country and would return providing we rented a car.
