“A perfect cottage in which to feel at home.” This is a perfect cottage in which to feel at home whilst exploring the south west of Iceland. The views across the lake and to the surrounding hills are very special. It is well equipped and has a spacious living area and I would recommend paying the small extra fee for use of the hot tub after a day's trekking in the mountains or driving around the fjords. Iceland's highest waterfall, Glymur, is nearby and is well worth the walk. Haukur and anna Lisa, the hosts, are very helpful and friendly and we very much enjoyed our time in their summerhouse.

Tranquil cottage with an amazing view

We stayed here in February and had a really special time. The children were wowed by all the things Iceland has to offer, geysers, spouting steam vents, frozen waterfalls, lava fields, volcanoes etc, but probably one of their best memories will have been playing around the frozen lake by the cottage. We loved the view of it from the cottage every morning. We also had the Northern Lights coming out to play while we stood on the verandah, a wonderful experience for all of us. We did have some winter Icelandic weather to deal with but Anna Lisa and Haukur looked after us wonderfully and made sure that we were all fine. They looked up any information we needed, welcomed us warmly and our kids loved them! We are definitely going back, maybe in the summer where we'll have a heatwave(!!) … see more
