The Harmony Retreat is conveniently located less than 2 miles north of Mossyrock (just off US Hwy 12/White Pass Scenic Byway & 20 miles east of I-5's exit 68), on the east end of beautiful Mayfield Lake in a quiet, upscale lakeside neighborhood. The west-facing custom built home is directly across the street from the lake and has lake views from most of the rooms and from the covered deck. In the evening, watch the sun set over the glistening lake, and at night, gaze at the stars shining brightly in the night sky, unobstructed by city lights. In winter, snow sports are just an hour away at White Pass Ski Resort and Mt. Rainier National Park.
The Harmony Retreat is large enough for a family to enjoy, yet intimate enough for a couple's romantic getaway. The upstairs "Tranquility Suite" features a queen bed with memory foam topper and high thread count sheets, vaulted ceiling and ceiling fan, sitting area, cable TV, and a full bathroom with a soaking tub and double sinks. The adjacent upstairs open loft has a twin futon daybed, fine for sleeping or relaxing with a good book. On the main level, the colorful "Namaste Room" has a full bed, sitting area, and decor with an international flavor. Across the hall, the second full bathroom honors the lake setting with its rustic cabin decor.
The Harmony Retreat's Great Room invites the outside in with its two-story wall of windows facing the lake. This room features a fireplace, 32" HD LCD TV with DVD player and cable, hardwood floors, ceiling fan, and a spacious sofa that converts to a comfortable queen size bed (a twin rollaway bed, two folding twin foam cushion beds, and porta-crib provide additional sleeping options). The large, open kitchen is fully equipped with all you need to enjoy cooking and dining at this lakeside retreat. The dining table and counter bar seat 8.
The Harmony Retreat has secure wireless Internet access, so feel free to bring your laptop or notebook. Local phone service is free; bring a calling card or your cell phone for long distance calls. Enjoy a variety of board games, books, magazines, and DVDs for all ages. Plenty of bedding is provided for the extra beds, with total sleeping accommodations for up to 8 (ask about larger groups and nearby accommodations). Central heating and the fireplace create a warm ambiance in winter. Air conditioning and ceiling fans keep the home cool in the summer. There's a complete laundry room with washer, dryer, iron and ironing board too.
Outside, soak in the new hot tub year-round and enjoy the 1/3-acre property which features richly varied naturescaping, with stone paths, a dry creek, garden art, and many whimsical touches. Lovingly created by the original owners through years of dedicated gardening, these grounds are a retreat too, a place to become steeped in nature's beauty, while walking the paths, meditating under a canopy of tree branches, resting on a hammock, or viewing from the second floor deck. Relax on weathered wood chairs on the patio, roast hot dogs and marshmallows over the fire pit, and enjoy grilling fresh-caught fish on the gas barbecue grill.
The private community boat launch is just a block down the street, where you can launch your motor boat for a day of fishing or water-skiing (note: no moorage and vehicles and trailers must be parked at house after launching). Or bring your jet-skis, canoe, kayak, or raft to explore the 13-mile lake and adjacent Cowlitz River canyon. There is also a private community dock and picnic area located across the street through a greenbelt. Bike, jog, or walk on scenic country roads that meander through forest and meadows, where you're likely to spot farm animals, fields of flowers, wildlife, birds, and vistas of Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Adams, Mt. Rainier, and the neighboring foothills. Or head out by car to visit the rural towns of Mossyrock and nearby Morton, walk through the show gardens of DeGoede Bulb Farm, take a day trip to Mt. Rainier and check out the new visitors center, enjoy winter sports at nearby White Pass, go shopping at the outlet and antique stores and have lunch at historic McMenamins in nearby Centralia, view Mt. St. Helens from the northeast approach, and drive the back roads of this unique region....Read more

I had a wonderful stay here in March. Though the weather wasn't conducive to a lot of outside activities, I had a relaxing stay indoors, with TV (March Madness), hot tub, excellent kitchen, comfy furnishings. The town nearby had good breakfast and very authentic Mexican food restaurants as well as a bakery.
All in all, I highly recommend Harmony for solo or for groups (lots of room.)
"Both relaxing and inviting, I can't wait to go back!"

This is the kind of place that sticks in the back of your mind and you find yourself wondering how you can fit in a quick trip! I have visited the Harmony Retreat 3 times now. It was super relaxing for a solo getaway and really fun for the kids and I. The huge wraparound porch is a wonderful spot to view the lake and the interior of the house is gorgeous, airy and has everything a traveler would need. Truly can't wait to go back!

This house on Lake Mayfield is a gem. The kitchen is large and stocked, the beds are comfy and the greatroom is very cozy with fireplace and flat screen TV. The best feature of the house is the covered deck, it is huge! There is a hammock, bar, dining table and chairs and other various sitting areas that all overlook the lake and surrounding hills. This is where we spent most of our time eating and relaxing. And the lake is just a jewel. We rented a wave runner and played all day with the kids, pulling them on the tube and racing across the lake. There is a boat dock and then another dock for swimming and picnicing only a short walk away. I would recommend this vacation property to anyone and we want to go back there next year and do it again. Thanks Shelly!

Maybe the name of the vacation home, Harmony
Retreat gives one a mental set or expectation to begin with, but all was well-realized in our stay there, which included a wonderful and tasty Father's Day salmon barbeque on the spacious outside deck.
Inside, the furnishings, the woodwork, and the large view windows, all said "Relax. Tune in to nature, the folks around you, and, of course, your inner self, all far-removed from the bustle and noise of the Seattles and Portands of your daily life." Really, it didn't take long to put the laptop aside, even though access was readily available on a 24/7 basis, and focus on nature and the people around us.
All told, we spent a very relaxing time at Harmony Retreat and and definitely hope to return. Thank you again, Shelley, for this wonderful and most harmonious retreat.
