Known for high sand dunes visible from miles out at sea, Nags Head has recently become one of the most popular resort towns in North Carolina. Nags Head, known for having very hospitable locals, is the perfect location to escape for a few days or a few weeks. If you are looking for high end boutique or fine dining within the town, head to East Mall Drive and Croatan Highway.
While you're in Nags Head, be sure to take part in some of these popular activities as well:
-Go to the Beach: The beach is undoubtedly the main feature of Nags Head and the Outer Banks in general.
-Jockey's Ridge State Park: In addition to climbing the dunes, it's possible to take hang gliding lessons at this park.
-Miniature Golf: Visit one of the many mini golf courses in the area.
-Take a Walk: There is a multi-use path that goes through the town along the ocean and is perfect for a long walk or bike ride.
-Visit the Nags Head Woods Ecological Preserve: This area was designated as a National Natural Landmark in 1974.
-Visit Jockey's Ridge: This is the largest sand dune on the East Coast.
Staying in a vacation rental is usually the preferred option for those visiting Nags Head. Luckily, vacation rentals, including condo and villa rentals by the beach, are widely available during all four seasons of the year. If you're looking for the excitement of a larger city during your stay, check out Norfolk, Virginia, which is easily accessible as a day trip.
