The shared hot bathtub bathroom is adjacent to a kitchen with a mahogany top central island. Further on is a landing with a toilet on the left. Natural wood railings adorn staircase leading to a Loft bed with own toilet and a lovely view above the greenery.
To the right of landing the living room with a sofa bed and a reading desk has doors leading into the garden on the right and two bedrooms on the left: master en suite with Jacuzzi and the twin with two single beds.

The APARTMENT is accessed through a cedar wood staircase to a living room with curved ceiling. This leads to cedar wood balcony with a stunning view of the garden. We stayed at Nairobi Cottage for 6 nights. Conveniently located for our business trip, close to workplaces we needed to visit. Calm en quiet in the hustle and bustle of Nairobi.
The cottage takes you back 100 years. A survivor amidst modern apartments coming up. Excellent beds, a bathtub that might have hosted Karin Blixen herself, and do-it yourself breakfast in the morning. Adriel and Donated provided fresh fruit, milk and bread to toast. And the speed of the internet was excellent.

We were 7 of us coming to Nairobi to attend the wedding of M&M. Two of us stayed in the cottage while the other five stayed in the apartment. Kiloranhouse is a little gem. Simple but very cosy. The gardens are amazing - making Kiloranhouse very private and quiet.. Even if you don't have a green thumb, you'll truly and deeply appreciate the gardens. WIFI with strong connection allowed us to stay in touch with family and friends (work could wait).
Adriel and his daughter were impeccable hosts. We were welcomed with a basket of exotic food and breakfast, and the basket kept on being refilled. Must have been a kind of magic! A cleaner came in regularly and the house was always spotless. We also hugely appreciated the possibility of having our laundry done. A guard was invariably present at the main gate, thus keeping the premises safe.
Last but not least, the covered balcony in the apartment provided the ideal spot for gathering and relaxing.
We had a great time at Kiloranhouse and we strongly recommend it. Hopefully, we will be back soon.
"homely and elegant...ideal for a group of families and children."

we were a group of five Indian families. having read about Kiloran House on Flipkey, I booked the same for two days and one night with the intention of seeing Nairobi on the second day. However, due to change in booking my travel agent, Moyo travels, we ended up at Kiloran at 10pm and had to leave for the airport next day morning.
We infact could not completely exploit what we had paid for even though Dr adriel and his wife were very hospitable.
Since the House and Cottage are separate, one is suitable for three families and the house with common bathrooms, maybe for single types as common bathrooms are not everyone's cup of tea.
The location is indeed peaceful though slightly difficult to find.
We would have liked it better if Dr adriel had waived off some of his charges due to our limited usage/stay, but we cannot blame him as the house was booked in our name for the whole two days.
what was good was the location, homeliness and hospitality

We have stayed with our family for three nights in Kiloranhouse. We all felt most welcome and safe. In case of any question adriel and his family assisted us (airport transfer etc.). We can only recommend this place. In immediate vicinity to one of Nairobi's best hotels, restaurants and shopping centers.

Adrian and his family are very welcoming, and treated us well. The cottage is basic, but for Nairobi good value. It could do with a standing shower or better hot/cold water control. I had my kids with me, and it was a challenge to get cleaned up. A microwave would be nice, as well as more comfortable couches and better lighting in the living room, to relax in the evening. A bench outside would add a nice touch for those evenings when you want to relax outside. Security is great, and it's a nice location, with the moonflower a walking distance - we had a few meals there. The breakfast provided was okay, but came in handy with little ones.

Nairobi is a busy city and it's nice to have a safe, quiet place to call home while you're there. For me, that was the Kiloran House cottage. The cottage is clean and comfortable with a wonderful round kitchen and a living room you can relax in. The folks that own and run Kiloran House are very nice and work hard to please their guests. And it's very safe and secure. And if you need incidentals, there's a shopping center nearby. We go to Kenya about once a year and I will definitely use Kiloran House again.

I had a wonderful stay at Kiloranhouse Cottage. I am a single woman traveling alone and I felt totally safe. The owner's wife took me to the local outdoor market and I was treated like one of the family. Thanks again. Stephanie Scott

We could never have imagined that our stay would be in such a gorgeous house in the middle of Kenia's capital.
The amazing hospitality of the doctor and his wife and of course Lawrence made our stay even more beautiful. We recommend the Kiloranhouse Cottage to everyone.

A friend and I stayed at Kiloran House over Easter Holidays--and we will definitely be returning. We stayed in the cottage which is beautiful--with low ceilings, hardwood floors and its amazing kitchen--giving us an "at home" feel. Kiloran House is ideally located--not far from shopping, restaurants and the city center, yet secluded enough to have you away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Adriel and his wife were extremely helpful.
Your beautiful review has at last come through and I wish to thank you and Aimee for your generosity. I look forward to having you back.
With best regards,
Anne & Adriel

We had a wonderful, restful stay at the cottage. The location is great for access to restaurants, shopping, etc. but the second you turn into the drive, you don't feel you are in the city at all. It's a great, at home, cozy place to stay. I left feeling refreshed and would recommend this place to anyone wanting a comfortable, quiet, homey accommodation...and the couple who runs the house is incredibly helpful and welcoming.

My husband and I spent a lovely weekend at the Kiloran Cottage apartment. The apartment's rooms are absolutely beautiful -- hardwood floors, antique fixtures, plenty of natural light. We prepared several meals at the apartment and dined on the balcony overlooking an exquisite garden. We felt very safe on the property and comfortable walking to several nearby restaurants and a shopping mall. Kiloran is also just a quick bus ride from the city center. Mr. Njogu & family make a sincere effort to ensure guests' comfort. Fresh fruit, bread, and beverages awaited us on arrival, and Mr. Njogu helped us arrange transportation to and from the airport.
"By far the best place I've ever stayed in Nairobi."

I cannot say enough about how lovely the Kiloran House/Cottage was to stay at. The owners--the Njogu family, are wonderful and incredibly helpful. The property couldn't be cleaner or more beautiful--it feels like an oasis of peace and quiet. My friend and I stayed for three weeks and felt right at home. We have stayed many other times in Nairobi but never had such a lovely experience. The apartment itself is clean and beautifully decorated and it is wonderful to have access to your own kitchen. The Kiloran House provides breakfast foods--fresh fruit, milk, toast, etc. daily in addition to tea and coffee. We felt free to come and go according to our work schedule. Everything is treated with care and love. Also, there is a beautiful balcony in the back of the apartment that is a particularly great place to work or eat meals. All in all, I really can't say enough about how much I enjoyed staying at Kiloran. Thank you to the Njogus, Ephantus, Robert and the rest of the staff for being so warm and welcoming.

This is a wonderful place to stay in Nairobi. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the kitchen is very cute, the bathroom is very large (ours had a huge tub) and the gardens are deligtful. It feels very safe. It is within walking distance of many good places to eat and close to central Nairobi. The hosts are fantastic and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable.
I looked at numerous places to stay in Nairobi - most at very high cost for what you get. Kiloran House is not only modestly priced but a real sanctuary in Nairobi. There are three rooms in total so it never feels too busy . It was perfect for our children who could play in the garden and we adults loved its quiet feeling in the midst of Nairobi.

Dr. Njogu couples are very kind people. I felt I stay in family.
They give my guide suggestion and drive for us to have short tour in Nairobi. Living in Nairobi is very fresh, but no worry about security in the House. Recommend the place strongly, you will love the city because Dr. Njogu family.
