This gem of a property sits on a quiet stretch of road on Negril's south coast. Peace and Tranquility reside here. Although we are only a 10 minute drive away, Tingalaya's seems a million miles from the hustle and bustle of downtown Negril and the Seven Mile beach.
We have 8 cottages, enough space to host nineteen guests while maintaining a feeling of intimacy, privacy, and tranquility. Authentic Jamaican breakfasts are prepared for you every morning, while other meals can be prepared at your request. Our guests have full use of our gourmet kitchen and dining areas allowing them to experience the joy of shopping, cooking and living in a foreign country.
Take in the beauty of our tropical gardens from the shade of your veranda or enjoy just wandering the grounds. Enter our seaside through a garden of flowers, almond trees, and cacti. Hammocks swing easily in the soft sea breeze, shaded by tall trees or hidden in private groves. Follow a path to the private beach and ocean filled pool, where waves roll in and out, refreshing the water as you soak under a breathtaking sunset. Build a bonfire and watch as the day turns to an awe-inspiring night under a star filled sky.
We are close enough to town to take in nightlife and Negril's Seven Mile beach, yet far enough from the crowds to enjoy complete privacy in your own slice of paradise.
Tingalaya's is an ideal location for larger family groups, weddings, retreats and other special events. Our accommodations are both eclectic and elegant. Each room holds it's own special charm, with art and accents from around the world. Tingalaya's is your ultimate private beach house in the Caribbean.

My stay are Tingalaya's was nothing short of perfection. I was traveling alone and looking for my own cottage with access to the ocean but away from tourists where I could spend the days lounging on a hammock, swimming, and in deep relaxation. Without having picked yet where in the Caribbean I wanted to go, I actually chose to come to Jamaica after seeing the pictures and reading the reviews about this place. Tingalaya's exceeded my expectations. Every morning Maria prepared a delicious breakfast. Jubey - the caretaker of the property addressed my every need and introduced me to some excellent local Jamaican food and entertainment. The owner, David also took extra effort in making me feel well taken care of. My time felt truly special because of the genuine care and friendliness of the staff, as well as the comfort and natural beauty of the property. The ocean-fed pool was a delight. My personal seaside cottage was the perfect solace. Of my ten day stay, I only went into town three times because I just didn't want to leave this place (the small town of Negril is actually quite pleasant - I borrowed a bike from the retreat and had a lovely ride to town and back, about a 20-30 minute ride each way). I plan on coming back to Jamaica and wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else. Read more

We came to Jamica for a friends wedding, we were not into "all inclusive" so looked around web sites for someplace other than where the wedding was to stay. We are so happy we found Tingalays! The location for us was perfect and you cannot beat the treatment we had from both Jube and Maria, they were wonderful. If you are looking for quiet and simple this is the place!

I stayed at Tingalayas last year with my hunny Brad. I prefer the relaxing side of vacationing, and you can find the best peace and quite here. The property is beautiful, and words cant describe the staff. Jube was the best, and I cant wait to go back. We are staying at Tingalayas this March and I know we will have the best of times. We went to Tingalayas in 2010 for our honeymoon. We were striving for something private, low-key (yet elegant) and we found that and so much more at Tingalayas. Every moment experienced here surpassed our expectations. Jube, the rasta who runs the place, was amazing...a great cook, wonderful human being and really made the experience perfect. The owners, David and Lisa are amazingly accommodating and great to deal with.
If you want to find a place where you can spend an entire day doing absolutely "nothing"...or be able to jump off the cliffs and snorkel right outside of your doorstep and want complete privacy without the hustle and bustle of the "resort-land" down the road, then Tingalayas is for you. Can't wait to go back in a few months. This place is off the beaten path, but you can walk or bike ride to the necessities - aka food and rum and red stripe.
People have said it before, but it is a slice of heaven. Read more
Thanks! Jube is looking forward to your return!

We recently spent 8 nights at Tingalaya's and had our wedding / honeymoon there. This was my fourth time in Negril, and we will always go back to Tingalaya's. Jube and Maria and all the staff made us feel at home from the minute we arrived. The food was excellent and the property is gorgeous. We had a private wedding ceremony in the gazebo by the sea. The entire staff went out of their way to make our wedding day, and every day more beautiful than we could have ever expected. We were truly blessed to be there and become a part of their family, and they will always be a part of ours. We will definitely be back there, every year hopefully. Once again we can not say thank you, or show our gratitude enough to Jube, Maria, Boston, Sylvia, June and Bobby. If you want to really experience Jamaica and have a private romantic getaway away from the hustle and bustle, Tingalaya's is the place to go. Mark and Terry Read more
Thank You Mark and Terry, for the beautiful review! I spoke to Jube and he really enjoyed you being there. He also told me he was honored to be part of your wedding ceremony. Tingalayas's looks forward to welcoming you back.

I went with two of my best girlfriends for a long, relaxing weekend and we had the best time at Tingalayas. We loved the bungalows, the property filled with fresh fruit trees, hummingbirds and butterflies and we loved Jube and Maria--they were so friendly and helpful. They cooked amazing dinners and breakfasts and overall made us feel so welcome. We also loved lounging by the pool and seeing the sunset over the cliffs--it was the perfect way to end the day. I have never been so sad leaving a vacation spot in my life. This property is impeccably maintained, the food is freshly prepared by some of the kindest people I've ever met, and I really learned to relax for once.
I would recommend renting a car so you can explore the coastline but, if you don't, the caretaker of Tingalayas is a great companion and ready to help you discover the island.
Amazing fruit trees all over the property, salt water pool right against the ocean, completely a different world.

We've just returned fro a wonderful, relaxing week at the Rosenstein's Edenic compound on Negril.
We absolutely loved the place. We've travelled the world extensively, staying in hotels rated fro five stars to no stars, and I want to tell you that Sea Grape Cottage is my favorite place I've ever stayed. I'm in love!
All of the property is beautiful. The ocean side is breath taking. Perfect spot for sun down and Red Stripe beer. We loved the location far from the hubbub of downtown.
Caretakers Jube and Maria? My god what treasures they are. They took such good and heart felt care of us, and we already miss their most special and delicious cooking. Jube stole my heart and Maria brightened each morning for us.
In short, it's a wonderful place to relax in. Read more

My family and I had a wonderful time at Tingalayas for our spring break. It was our first time in Jamaica. We loved the beautiful countryside, the snorkeling, the food, and the helpful people. Tingalayas was delightful. We found the staff very friendly and helpful and we loved having them as tour guides for our sightseeing adventures. Breakfast was provided each morning and was delicious. Tingalayas was truly a retreat! The hosts, Jube and Maria were amazing, wonderful people who always wanted to ensure we were having the best time. The property is gorgeous; very rustic and true to Jamaica and the views are spectacular. After spending a week at Tingalayas, I felt refreshed and found myself recommending it to everyone I talked to. It was truly an amazing, one of a kind experience. Breakfast is taken care of in the morning. Maria's french toast is delicious! There are 3 dogs on the property that made me (a non-dog lover) fall in love. The interior and architecture of all the rooms is beautiful... my favorite being the showers in each of the bathrooms! The bungalows have their own distinct look and feel... homey, yet a nice place to get away! All in all, it was a great vacation spot if you're looking to have a chill, fun time in Jamaica. I wouldn't do it any other way (all inclusive resort or hotel) if I were to go back. Read more

From the moment we arrived at Tingalayas it was heaven. The property is beautiful. The plants, the water, the rocks, the rooms, everything was perfect. The caretaker, Jube, was the coolest/nicest person ever. Anything we needed Jube could provide. It was very nice how private and secluded everything was. The snorkeling was great! It was the perfect spot for my wedding. Tingalayas has it all! Fire pit, gazebo, sandy beach, patio into the rocks. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Negril and hope to visit again very soon! My recent vacation to Negril was made perfect by Tingalayas. Truly a relaxing vacation! We ate delicious, healthy food prepared by Jube and Maria, our new lifelong friends. We swam and snorkeled in the most beautiful water off the property's private cliffs. We partied and had a blast all in our little private paradise--Tingalayas. Please don't change a thing! Hands down, Tingalayas is our favorite home away from home! The property is so breath taking and always seems to be improving. We love the new gazebo on the ocean side and we are excited for the expansion of the beach. Our stay in the Great House was one of a king and queen. We gave thanks every day waking up in the beautiful king size bed and looking around at our magnificent surroundings.
Jube, the care taker, has become one of our closest friends in the world over the past 6 years, and we could not imagine staying in Negril and not being in his presence every day. He is a blessing to this world. We look forward to our next stay every single day, and can only hope it will be sooner then once a year. We thank you so very much for having us again and we will be counting down the days until we are back in beautiful Tingalayas. More Love, Jay & Dionna Read more

We are just settling back home in Portland after what can only be described as a magical stay at Tingalayas. We cannot thank you enough for accommodating us and opening up your sanctuary to guests. We had a wonderful stay from beginning to end, and found our time in the West End and Tingalayas to be the highlight of our vacation in Jamaica. In fact, we found ourselves not only wishing we stayed longer, but already looking forward to our next visit. Jube and Maria were wonderful hosts; we felt obliged to be in their company, and as chefs, honored to be able to taste some of their delicious cooking and share with them, some of ours. Whether dining on ackee fruit and scotch bonnet pepper sauce in the morning, or taking in a sunset and goat walk from your terraced oceanfront property, the entire experience felt completely unspoiled. In many ways, we felt our stay was meant to be. We felt an immediate connection with Jube, the other guests and the land, and it was an honor being part of the Tingalayas experience. Read more

well what can you say about a place where you can actually be with the people and culture, Jube the resident Rasta who I have known and consider a brother for over 28 years was a great host and a true spirit he will go out of his way to help , and I wont even have to say any thing about his cooking (if you know Peter) Its a great place and location on the cliffs where you are able to get a feel of Jamaica. Tingalayas is a special gem tucked away in Negril's West End. My room was exactly as pictured and was outfitted with personal touches I wouldn't have found at mainstream/chain hotels. The staff was very supportive and assisted me with everything I needed. The only bummer was not being able to swim in the ocean fed pool b/c I hadn't anticipated low tide affecting the pool's water level.
Jube is an amazing cook. There is no need to seek out meals elsewhere. During my stay I met a couple who said they were on their 5th visit. They assured me the place gets more beautiful each time. I've since recommended the place to a friend for a wedding/honeymoon one-stop. Read more
Thank You Kay! The pool is great when the ocean co-operates, which is most of the time! The upside to that is you can swim in the ocean since it's calm. We hope to see you again,

This is the 4th time I have been to Tingalayas in one year. I decided to go this time to spend some time resting and relaxing before starting a new job. I will continue to go to Tingalayas a few times a year if possible. The natural beauty and peacefulness is like nothing I have experienced before! I plan on taking my daughter and her husband next Winter so they can experience it too! Also, the nightlife in Negril is only minutes away when you want to have some fun and hear the real Reggae bands!!
I would definitely recommend this retreat to anyone wanting an authentic Jamaican experience! Jube is always a wonderful host and will make you feel right at home.
