ARRIVE A STRANGER LEAVE AS A FRIEND. We offer a home away from home in Wakefield, a 15 minute drive from Richmond and 25 minutes from Nelson City. It is well situated for those who are travelling either north or south and those who want to explore the Nelson region. On arrival you enter a large courtyard with access to a pottery and wood workshop where Bruce will demonstrate how to make a pot on the wheel. Bush Walk is completely private and offers a lovely setting with the native birds flying through the treetops. Watch them up close and see the beautiful creatures bathe in the water bowl. The house is surrounded by New Zealand native bush and borders the Waikari Reserve and Faulkners bush where guests can walk through the different pathways. Climb to the lookout and take in the vista of the surrounding Pigeon Valley, Wakefield Village and out over the Waimea Plains to Tasman Bay and Nelson.

The Wakefield Villa Tearooms and gift shop is a lovely place to have a cup of coffee, cake and caters for lunches. Also there is a cafe in the main street next door to the chemist and hairdresser. There is a Medical Centre, Four Square Supermarket, fish and chip shop, bakery, petrol station in the village.

Five minutes drive away is Totaradale Golf Club, a nine hole course for those who enjoy a game. Further up Pigeon Valley road is a Steam Museum. Wakefield is 3/4 hour drive away from Lake Rotoiti and an hour to the Rainbow Ski Field.

On site is a pottery workshop and gallery where guests can view the paintings, card, wall hangings, and children's furniture. Pottery lessons are given to anyone who is interested.
