Additional Location Information

Neuilly sur Seine, once a medieval hamlet can be traced back in the history books as far as 832. Deforested and settled after the Germanic invasions. Until the French Revolution the settlement was referred to as Port-Neuilly. At the onset of French communes in 1790 the 'Port' was dropped and the commune was simply known as Neuilly.

The American Hospital was founded in Neuilly in 1906. Academy award winner Bette Davis and Greek tycoon Aristotle Onassis are among the most noted former patients of the hospital.

Neuilly's reputation as a center of wealth and power are only solidified by the fact that La Defense is located there as well as numerous international companies including The International Herald Tribune and the global edition of The New York Times.

So, it's no surprise that Neuilly is home to Liliane Bettencourt, L'Oreal heiress and the richest woman in modern day France.

In fact, former French President Nicolas Sarkozy was mayor of Neuilly sur Seine from 1983-2002.

Neuilly is truly a seat of power, fame and money!
