Built in 1847, this Schoolhouse was completely renovated in 2013. It sleeps up to 6 and provides guests a getaway as they look out from the edge of a gorgeous, 120-acre horse farm right near the Shawangunk Mountains (the Gunks). The house sits on the edge of a 120-acre farm that has horses, goats, chickens, and donkeys. There is plenty of open space and lots of woodland. Much of the farm has gorgeous, head-on views of the Shawagunk mountains. Once you've arrived, you are welcome to walk on our carriage trails or go for a snow-shoe or cross-county ski if you are inclined. Parking is easy; the Cottage has a large, driveway and even a one-car garage. The neighborhood is tranquil.

If you are coming from New York City, it's likely that you will want to either drive -- about an hour and twenty minutes from the George Washington Bridge -- or take a direct bus from Port Authority: Adirondack Trailways. The bus ride is about an hour and forty minutes. The New Paltz Bus Station is less than five minutes from Sensible Car Rental which remains open until 5:00 p.m. You can also ask the Bus Driver if he'll let you off there (Rt. 32/Mulberry Street).

You can also take the Metronorth Train from Grand Central and get off in Beacon (about an hour ten minutes) and contact Enterprise which is open until 6:00 p.m. on Fridays OR take the Amtrak from Penn Station to Poughkeepsie and contact the Enterprise Rental there.

Car Rentals:

Sensible Rental Car in NEW PALTZ ...(phone: hidden). They are open until 5:00 M-Saturday. The cost is about $40 daily/$200 weekly. They
Enterprise in Beacon (Metronorth) ...(phone: hidden). This will save you some time...but make a reservation in advance as they quite busy between 3:00-5:30 on Friday afternoons.

Enterprise in Poughkeepsie (Amtrak/Metronorth)...(phone: hidden).

Enterprise offices are open until 6:00 p.m. They will pick you up at the train in Beacon or Poughkeepsie, take you to the office about five-ten minutes away to fill out paper work.
