Playa El Coco - Beautiful Townhome on the Beach

San Juan del Sur villa

  • 4 bedrooms
  • 3 bathrooms
  • sleeps 8

“Great beach, nice pool, spacious modern condo on the ocean.” Playa el Coco Townhome, Playa el Coco, Nicaragua, Dec 11-18,2013. An amazingly beautiful unspoiled Pacific coast beach in the south of Nicaragua about a half hour from San Juan del Sur. A lovely townhouse complex - quiet, beautiful gardens, a shared pool, right on the beach. Great security. Very helpful staff at the front gate, who helped us find someone to come and cook and clean up for a few hours a day at a very reasonable rate. Also the owner of our townhouse lives nearby on the same property and helped us find someone to drive us to town and to see the turtles. Our 4 bedroom townhouse was spacious and modern, with central air conditioning and a big living room. Really good beds, bedding, pillows. Modern kitchen. The complex is all concrete so no noise from other units, though within our unit, our family could create quite a racket in the living area - just normal family life. Our extended family of eight (parents, 3 children, 3 grandparents) rented for the second week of December 2013. The best part was the beach - the waves were great for the kids to play in, big enough for boogie-boards. Real surfing available on nearby beaches.

Malinche Remanso House, San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua

San Juan del Sur house

  • 3 bedrooms
  • 2 bathrooms
  • sleeps 6

“Your dreams come true at Tropical paradise Casa Malinche El Rema” We had an unforgettable time at Casa Malinche, El Remanso Bay. This was a truly get-away experience, with no cell phone and internet, only the wild chocoyos (parakeets)and parrots waking us up in the morning and opening the bedrooms balcony doors to breath taking views of El Remanso (El Sucio) Bay below. We spotted whales surfacing one early morning from our balcony. Beginner surfers, mostly foreigners (European and North american), came to El Remaso since early morning to take advantage of the forgiving waves. We traveled with my two children and another family. We were able to rent surf boards at the beach for $10 per day! and instructors to both my kids - my children were able to stand up on their boards and ride the waves almost like pros. Pleasant crystalline, light turquoise waters above 80 degrees F. and mild waves coming ashore (so the name Remanso). San Juan del Sur is just 20 minutes away by car (no need for 4WD) to re-stock or to check on e-mails. We took a boat ride to neighboring Playa Blanca, a private beach only accessible by boat. The views of the Pacific shoreline are unbelievable! Saving the best for last, Casa Malinche is a rustic wood log-framed house with wood siding, founded on pylons. Very comfortable and spacious, open architectural layout. All bedroom windows are screened, so sleeping with windows open listening to the night sounds of waves crashing below and the night fauna is a truly wild experience. Up on the hill the breeze is very refreshing, so we did not have issues with insects. The house comes with all linens and towels, kitchen appliances etc. etc. You only need to bring yourself and your family. Also, be prepared for a good workout to climb stairs to the sleeping quarters and to get to the beach, although the beach is accessible by vehicle if desired. Live-in house keepers are friendly and helpful if you need directions. They are not intrusive with guests. Highly recommended for true adventurer and nature minded!

About Nicaragua

Nicaragua is often called "the land of lakes and volcanoes", and visitors come here from all over the world to experience the majesty of fiery rock emerging from the center of endless, tranquil blue waters. The cylindrical column of Volcan Concepcion rising into the sky from gigantic Lake Nicaragua is just one of the many natural wonders of Nicaragua that will take your breath away. Hundreds of tiny islands surround the bustling colorful city of Granada. From the dazzling waterfalls to the butterflies and extraordinary birdlife of the Northern Nicaragua cloud forest, the sights, sounds, and flavors of this country will leave you with memories for a lifetime. As a counterpoint to its natural beauty, the warmth and energy of Nicaraguan culture will quickly find a way into your heart. The hospitality you'll feel here will make you want to stay for even longer than you had planned.

Here are a few additional suggestions of things to do in Nicaragua:

  • Granada: Visit Choco Museo. For years, this chocolate factory and museum has been one of the most popular visitor attractions in Granada. Learn how chocolate is made and later take a tour of a real cacao farm.
  • San Juan del Sur: Go horseback riding and watch the sunset along the beaches of San Juan del Sur. There's no better way to experience the romance of this coastal paradise.

-The Corn Islands: Little Corn Island and Big Corn Island are internationally renowned marine nature preserves and home to an extensive system of barrier reefs. Little Corn Island is believed by many scuba diving experts to be the greatest scuba diving destination in the world.

  • Matagalpa: Tour a coffee plantation in Matagalpa, one of Nicaragua's coffee production capitals.
  • San Carlos: Sport fishing is a popular activity in San Carlos. Take a charter fishing excursion to pursue rainbow bass, snook, and huge tarpon.
  • Masaya: Explore the sulphurous, steaming Masaya Volcano crater at the center of Masaya Volcano National Park.

As one of the safest and most hospitable countries in Central America for travelers, Nicaragua offers a wide variety of places to stay that can accommodate every need and every budget. Find a luxurious villa with views of the ocean or a secluded cabin near one of Nicaragua's many wilderness areas and national parks. If you would prefer to stay close to the energetic nightlife in the heart of Managua or Granada, seek out a sleek condo or affordable apartment downtown.

SOLYAR Beachfront Large Spanish Estate
Wonderful place, wonderful memories

We celebrated my wife's birthday with the whole family at this beautiful home. The reservation process was very smooth, got great tips from the owner about activities and services, even a detailed map, surfing lessons and a cook. Since we arrived, the groundskeeper was friendly and the entire staff was eager to help. The home is very large, our large extended family of 16 fit perfectly in the five bedrooms of the house, ping pong table, the pool, Jacuzzi and the bar were the most popular activities while in the house, and surfing, turtle watching, ATV and the waterfalls our outdoor activities. The cook can prepare an amazing ceviche accompanied with a frozen Margarita, that we could not get enough of. The beach is not crowded at all, so we had complete privacy. The town is only five minutes away and they offer the basics, plus fresh fish and restaurants. The owner warned us about getting our full grocery supply in Managua, which worked out very well. We loved the home, the beach and the service. Certainly a place we would recommend and come back to again and again.see more

A wounderful week in a wounderful house!!!

We really enjoyed our stay in Esther’s house! It is really a house with a personal touch so you feel at home and it has a high standard of cleaning! Esther was very attentive to every thing we needed and there were sweet caretakers, fresh drinking water, cleaning of the house, fresh towels and linen, beautiful mornings and clear water in the lake. We also had a trip to the Isletas with Vladimir recommende by Esther and it was super and she also recommended a good place for buying hammocks! We loved every minute and would love to come back!see more
