Damgate Cottage is situated near the heart of the historic market town of Wymondham with shops, pubs and cafe all just a stroll away. The market place hosts markets each Friday and farmers markets every other Saturday this is also where you can find the nearest super market.
The streets are lined with historic houses and a the park and riverside walks at the end of the street is a good place to relax. Wymondham is perhaps best known for its 17th century market cross, an unusual building on stilts in the market place (houses the tourist information office) and for its 900 year old icon twin-towered abbey church complete with monastic ruins.

The historically import city of Norwich is just 9 miles away, with its Norman castle and two superb cathedrals. There are many medieval streets with museums, antique shops and galleries, take a walk along the riverside a see remains of the old flint city wall and defensive towers, take a stroll through the impressive cathedral close to see Pull.s Ferry and the Great Hospital. At its zenith Norwich is said to have had a church for every week of the year and a pub for every day! in fact many splendid examples survive today.

A little further afield you could hire a boat for the day whilst enjoying the famous Norfolk Broards (20 miles), the beaches at Great Yarnmouth (20 miles) and nature reserves and loveley fishing villages on the North Norfolk coast (30 miles), great familys days out can be has at Blickling, Felbrigg and Holkham Halls, Castle Rising castle and priory with the lovely gardens at Pennesthorpe and Bressingham which comes complete with its own steam museum, Banham zoo is also a short car journey away.

Damgate Cottage is your perfect base for family days out and a great place to relax and explore, you'll want to come back again!

BY CAR - close to the A11 London to Norwich Road, drop off your luggage in Damgate Street and park up in the public car park at the rear of the cottage (a parking permit is provided)

BY COACH - Public service busses stop in the market place (2 mins walk) and National Express stops in Avenue Road (3 minutes walk)

BY RAIL - Wymondham station if about half a mile away, change at Norwich or Cambridge
