BAYEUX- Manoir saint Hubert -1chambre d'hôtes 2 personnes

“Excellent, a taste of real France and completely unique!” Just in case you are thinking of paying a visit to Bayeux, be it for the Tapestry or the World War Two landings beaches, we can definately recommend Manoir Saint Hubert on the outskirts of Bayeux. Be prepared for an unbelievable encounter with a majestic house filled with 15th century furniture and an overall grand appearance. Absolutely well maintained and clean, en suite facilities in a quiet area. Wake up in the morning to the nearby Church bell and excellent breakfast served at a long dining table that would have suited a King. Indeed the lady who serves it is a descendant of one of William of Orange's Knights and if you ask she will surely show you an ancient family tree to prove it! Only a short walk into the town centre are Bayeux's Cathedral and many restaurants and it is just a short drive to see the Bayeux Tapestry or the beaches. We found this place fascinating and thoroughly enjoyed our three day stay.

“3 days in Normandy” The castle was a great location for the Normandy tours we took. Very clean, Bathrooms and Bedrooms all nice and worth the price of admission! Private gate to enter and you can cook in the kitchen or just hire a person to cook. We had 3 great breakfasts for a very reasonable price and we even cooked one night ourselves! We only had 6 adults but the castle could handle many more. Castle has great internet service and flat screen Tv's with DVD players. Very hot showers and you can even use the washing machine and dryer if necessary. Bikes available to ride and a ping-pong table too. It's like your own 4 star hotel! Normandy is definitely a place to put on your "Bucket List" Arnaud whose family owns the place is a wonderful man and met us one evening and showed us the room where the Wwii treaties were signed.

“wonderfull place to spend time” my wife and i spent a week here in may 2013,and have to say its the best place in france that we have visisted, we brought along our six year old grandson who absolutely loved it here. plenty of walks around the grounds and along the trout stream, playing poo sticks in the stream with my wife gillian. being able flying his little helicopter in the grassy field behind the gite and fishing the beautiful lake, watching grandad catch loads of big carp. the lake is very productive, you just wont stop catching double figure fish. accomodation is wonderfull and very tastefully arranged, all you can ask for from a holiday gite. ideally located between to small villages where to can buy all your needs. the owners, allan and josie are lovely people, very helpful and friendly. id recomend la chatouillette to everyone, as you wont find a better.

About Normandy

Bordering the English Channel, Normandy is divided into two sub-regions: Upper Normandy and Lower Normandy. Both have their own distinctive appeals, with Upper Normandy being home to some of the region's most scenic natural landscapes and architecture, and Lower Normandy being the site of the historic Allied invasion during the Second World War.

If you're taking a holiday in Normandy, here are some suggestions of things to do:

  • Honfleur: A harbor town in Lower Normandy dating back to the 17th century, Honfleur is home to a world-famous wooden church and some of the most charming streets and neighborhoods in France. It makes an excellent day trip, and its charms may even entice you to stay longer.
  • Giverny: The longtime home of famous impressionist painter Claude Monet, Giverny is a picturesque French town that makes an excellent day trip if you're staying in Upper Normandy.
  • D-Day beaches: If you're in Lower Normandy, tour the beaches where the D-Day invasion occurred.
  • The chalk cliffs of Etretat: Located in Upper Normandy near the town of Etretat, the chalk cliffs form into sweeping natural arches, creating a natural wonder.
  • Les Andelys: A perfectly preserved medieval town, Les Andelys is a must-see for those interested in the region's architectural and historic heritage.

If you visit during the spring or summer, you can partake in cycling in Normandy, France or take advantage of the many Normandy campsites that get you up close and personal with nature.

Getting a Normandy vacation rental is the ideal way to experience the true charms of this beautiful corner of France. Vacation rentals are like having your very own home while you're on holiday; in Normandy, options include everything from villas on the beach and cabins in the countryside to apartments and condos in the city.

Normandy is ideally situated for exploring the English Channel region, including the islands of Guernsey and Jersey. You can also head southeast to Paris and be in the City of Light in a couple short hours.

L'Orangerie du Grand Jardin : Suite Pastel
A Magical Stay at the Chateau Orangerie !

My husband, 22 year old son and I stayed at the Orangerie for 4 nights. We have been in France for 3 weeks so far. The Orangerie was definitely our favorite place to stay ! It is elegant, comfortable, decorated with gorgeous French antiques and very spacious. Our son was excited to have the entire top floor to himself ! Claudia and Michael are very generous and gracious. Their chateau is stunning ! We were so happy to have coffee with Claudia one morning , and learn about the history of the chateau. There was a bottle of delicious, cold champagne upon our arrival to the Orangerie. The grounds of the chateau are amazing. The view from the backyard, overlooking the pond, resembles a French painting ! The icing on the cake is their adorable, friendly dog, Folley ! She would sit by the door when we returned in the evening and wait for us to throw sticks. She is a sweetheart ! We truly hope that we are blessed to be able to return in the future ! Merci beaucoup Claudia, Michael and Folly !see more

SPACIOUS Family Farmhouse in 3 ACRES with STUNNING VIEWS, EXCLUSIVE USE
Practically perfect in everyway.

We stayed at the farmhouse for 13 glorious days. The house was immaculate. Sheila and Tony were so welcoming and really had thought of everything. From a lovely basket of welcome goodies to all the essentials needed for cooking, to children's toys, an abundance of towels and even bikes to use. Nothing was too much trouble and they did everything they possibly could to make our stay perfect. The house and location was wonderful. So peaceful and relaxing but plenty to keep the children occupied. The pool was fantastic. Great to cook off and a good depth for young children. There are so many things to do nearby or further a field if you prefer to suit all tastes. Mont St Michel was particularly spectacular. We enjoyed a wonderful afternoon at Lake Dathee. Warm shallow waters to swim in on a small beach, fantastic views and walks of Waterstones if you prefer. It was good to see the D day landings beaches and local towns. We particularly liked some of the family attractions especially the Enchanted Wood. Such a mix of activities to suit all ages and interest. Zip wires, quad bikes, boat rides on the lake, woodland path with varietals castles each telling their own stories. A great little cafe. Such good value. This was probably one of the best holidays we have had as a family. A perfect balance for us of quiet relaxation and day trips and activities. Sheila and Tony were wonderful and happy to answer any questions we had. We cannot wait to go back. There is still so much too see and do. I would highly recommend this accomodation.see more
Bayeux center charming house with garage.
Dynamite Location

This rental is perfectly located within the center of Dinan. You are surrounded by shops, restaurants, a nearby grocery store, tourist information center. But the place is set back from the street, through a private driveway, and is completely quiet. You would think you were in the country. Although the living area is small, 3 of us were comfortable enough. The proprietor did carry our luggage up and down the spiral staircase, which was a great help. Otherwise, the staircase was not a problem. The only tricky part is making a tight right turn from the street into the very narrow driveway. We managed it by pulling in the mirrors and driving very slowly in our Renault Captur.see more
