This home and island was a nice getaway from the world. It is located on the edge of the state park, so views towards the water are mostly unobstructed. Bedroom and bathrooms were clean and comfortable. Kitchen was fine but not stocked with many good cooking/baking equipment. The couches are cloth covered and old. They aren't uncomfortable, but I was cautious to get to comfy since they didn't look well kept. The end table was in the middle of the room and it had a lamp. It sat there unplugged because there wasn't a plug nearby. Not very well thought out. The main gripe was the hot tub. It wasn't working. If you stay here, call ahead to make sure it is functional. When we arrived, I opened the cover and it was devoid of water; however, there were 3 large frogs sitting in it. Apparently it broke the week before and the part was unavailable or are back-order. Overall, a nice spot to get away, but don't expect luxury. It does run a little cheaper than other houses on the island, mostly because it's not as large compared to some of the behemoths down the path.
Thank you for taking the time to review. We are working with the owner to update the home. Our maintenance team is working on the hot tub functions. We are very sorry you had these issues, especially on your honeymoon!

Service is very good; people are very kind and respectful. From arrival to departure we saw hard working, deligent people trying to make our stay enjoyable. And enjoyable it was; matter of fact it was, what I believe to be one of our most memorable vacations yet! Our only initial worry was that a full week in a bridgeless, roadless island with a healthy population of mosquitoes was just going to be too much; and it would
turn out to be the opposite (the squeeters are real bad problem only from early evening onward).
The property we stayed at belongs to a very thoughtful couple that has stocked the house with board games of all sorts and wealth of kitchen ware. There are a few TLC issues, these, however, are negligible. The house is only few hundred yards from the beach and the National Preserve is right behind the house.
The only gripe that my family and I had was the lack of any type of recycling in the whole island; all refuse is garbage!

We truly enjoyed being in North Captiva. We both recommend it as an destination and the particular house we stayed in. We were unable to use the grill which was a problem and no one answered our request for help. The house was comfortable for 4 people and would be comfortable for up to 6 people. The house was spacious and kitchen was well stocked. Ithe house is located in a private part of the island which was nice, however, I think I would have preferred being closer to the ocean.
When we arrived no one walked us in to the house to show us around, show us how things work etc.- this would have been helpful.
the size and layout of the house was the best. The lack of help was a problem; we didn't even get help with our bags into the house; they were just left at the bottom of the stairs.

We needed to detach, relax, rest, have fun and enjoy one another. We were able to do all these things. The staff was supurb, conveniences were avaiable, food delicious and healthy. Excursions were fun and just the right length of time.
We plan to go back
