This unique property, located near the banks of the Oyster River, and conveniently on the Boston Post Road (US 1), was built in 1795 by Nathaniel Clark, a 4th generation descendant of Captain Nathaniel Clark, a famous local seaman. It was at a time when General William Hart built one of the earliest houses in Saybrook, the first settlement on the southern shore of Connecticut. During the Revolution, Hart led the First Regiment of Connecticut Light Horse Militia to Danbury to take part in Tryon's raid. He and his brothers armed their merchant ships and served this country in numerous privateering forays against the British.

The Old Saybrook Town beach is Amazing and within biking distance. The 'Kate' offers sophisticated entertainment. Penny Lane Pub is a lively Irish watering hole and Dock and Dine is situated on the waterfront for sea-fare dining. Stroll downtown and browse the plethora of Antique Stores and Seaside Treasure Shops where Katherine Hepburn was often spotted. Wander over the causeway and down RT.1 and keep exploring the Connecticut Shore!
The property itself is a short ride from exit 57 (or 56 coming up eastwards).

The closest airport is New Haven, a 20 minutes ride by car. Direct flights are also available from Hartford Bradley Int'l, 45 minutes away, and from the various airports servicing New-York, including white Plains, JFK and La Guardia. Shuttles are available at these airports, taking passengers further to New London or to Penn Station (Amtrak) and Metro North New York City, from where you can reach Old Saybrook by train.
Providence and Boston Int'l Airports are closer than the New York Airports, and they are also offering multiple direct flights to many destinations in the US and overseas. These can be reached by train, through the Amtrak Station of Old Saybrook Northbound, and then shuttles.

Old Saybrook is also directly connected by train to Newark Int'l Airport by Amtrak. The railway station downtown Old Saybrook, a few minutes drive from the Property, takes you to inside the airport in less than 3 hours.

This is especially convenient for large family reunions, when guests are coming in to join from different destinations.
