Cottage Profile Ipperwash Beach is sandy with world class sunsets! Located just a short 50 minute (60 km) drive north of Sarnia, you can enjoy the lake breezes and the warm summer sun located a short distance from this cottage. There is no shore bluff to climb up and down - just carry your beach chair and bag a short walk to a deeded path and you're at the beach! In the heat of summer, the beach is quite popular and can be accessed by vehicles (cars may park on the beach). A Frisbee and a kite board would complete your gear because the wind is usually steady onto the beach. The cottage access road is gravel, and quiet with little traffic. Perfect for exploring and enjoying serenity. The view is north but has great sunsets to the west over Kettle Point (where you can find unique rounded stones on the lake bottom just off the reserve, geological anomalies that the elders call 'thunderbird eggs'). The beach is a great place to wander along the shore and explore, or just relax and contemplate life while watching the children construct sandcastles! To get to the water, it's just 100 meters away or a short walk from the cottage down the road to the access trail. Inside the cottage, the kitchen and living room are open concept. There is a fridge, stove and microwave along one wall while the living room area is opposite. The kitchen table has a bench against the wall and four chairs. Walk out the back kitchen door to the deck with your breakfast and/or coffee. Or sit inside and enjoy your book or watch TV while relaxing in the comfortable sofa and chair. The bedrooms and bathroom/laundry room are all located down the hall. There are three bedrooms, two of which each have a queen bed and one that has a set of bunkbeds (single over double). The bathroom is a three piece with updated white fixtures and glass enclosed shower stall. Out in the bunkie there is one single bed, where an older child may wish to 'camp out' in the backyard - bring a sleeping bag! The cottage has a large grassy backyard with a firepit to enjoy. It is perfectly shaded when the sun gets hot! Golfing is nearby at one of the many local courses. It's 3 km to Our Ponderosa Golf Resort, 5 km to Indian Hills Golf Club or 10 km to Sand Hills Golf Resort. For other activities, the cottage is only 22 km from the Pinery Provincial Park and Grand Bend - making it an ideal location for day trips into either town or to another beach community. On the way stop in at the Lambton Heritage Museum (21 km away) to see Canada's largest collection of pressed glass and period buildings. For the geologist or rock hounds, you really shouldn't miss a trip to the Rock Glen Conservation Area near Arkona (26 km away) to hunt fossil brachiopods (Mucrospirifer Arkonensis and Mucrospirifer Thedfordensis) and a take a refreshing 'shower' under the 10 metre high falls. In downtown Sarnia you will find lots of boutiques, fine restaurants, and Sarnia harbour.
Additional amenities include: firewood provided, umbrella, water source: municipal water, number of bedrooms: 3 bedrooms + bunkie, bed sizes: 2 queens, outdoor fire pit, 1 bunkbed (double on the bottom single on top) plus a single bed in the bunkie, muskoka chairs, clothers dryer, outside deck: 200 sq ft, 4 chairs, patio furniture (patio table, electric baseboard heat, loungers), dwelling type: one storey cottage, cottage size: 800 sq ft, bathrooms: 1 three-piece with a shower.TripAdvisor property ID 2127423...Read more

We arrived June 4th. to find that this cottage had not been properly opened up for the season. Water, TV and phone services not turned on; property not cleaned internally since last fall. Fortunately the Owner lived not far away and arrived within an hour to do the basics. Either he'd not been advised of the letting or, since we booked back in January, had plain forgotten about it. We ended up on good terms.
This is a delightful location, our first visit to the area. The cottage had been extensively updated internally and, after the questionable start, we enjoyed a very pleasant week.

Overall we had a really good time. The location is very convenient and quaint. The cottage was the perfect size with an excellent choice of flooring so we didn't have to worry about ruining anything. A stunning modern kitchen equipped with everything you could possibly need. The living room has comfortable and clean furniture and the bedrooms were a good size with comfortable mattresses (ceiling fans were an excellent idea). The washroom was big, fairly clean and very functional and having laundry right there was extremely convenient (I would add a few more hooks for towels though). The beach is absolutely perfect for a family with young children.
We really don't have anything to complain about but in the interest of giving you a little feedback, we would just like to mention a few things. The bunk bed is so loud and squeaky that it would wake up the other person sleeping in the room and frankly the other people in the cottage if they are lighter sleepers. It's disappointing when the family before doesn't really clean for the people that come after. It was unfortunately impossible to enjoy the beautiful backyard (even eating outdoors) because the mosquitos just massacre you.
Not that this would stop us from using this cottage again. This cottage would only get more perfect if it were right on the beach in which case, its cost would be better justified.
I'm not sure what you mean by service so I did not give it a rating.
“Wonderful cottage stay, they thought of all the details”

The cottage was beautiful. It was obvious that it had been recently renovated, so everything was new. The cottage owners or managers had though of everything, from salt & pepper shakers and toilet paper on the roll, to condiments in the fridge. We could see the water from the back deck. The only way we could've had a better location would've been if the cottage was actually on the water.
