Cottage Profile Two bedroom, 1000 square foot waterfront cottage located 2 km north of Port Elgin on the shores of Lake Huron. Within 5 kms of this cottage are two beautiful sand beaches. A pedestrian / bike trail travels directly across the street from this cottage which gives you easy access to the lake and both the towns of Southampton and Port Elgin on a bike. This cottage has a glassed-in sunroom facing the lake that provides a view of the beautiful sunsets over Lake Huron and the Lighthouse on Chantry Island. The interior of the cottage has nice comfortable furniture and large glass windows facing the lake and the south side of the property. There are French doors separating the sunroom from the main cottage. The main living area of the cottage features a couch with two chairs to relax in and a TV with cable, DVD and VCR. The kitchen has all the must-have amenities including, fridge, stove, and microwave. A dining room table located in the kitchen will comfortably seat all six in your party, and the sun room also has a glass table so you can enjoy both your meal, and the view. There are two bedrooms, each with a queen bed. A day bed is also available in the sunroom. The one bathroom at the cottage is a three-piece with a shower. Outside of the cottage is a large yard which is great for groups with smaller children. There is plenty of lawn to play on safely away from the road. The cottage property is relatively flat and grass covered. There is 200ft of frontage with a cottage in close proximity at the rear. we like the cottage, it's clean, washroom is good size. We love the new kitchen and appliances, except for the old kettle, I think it should be replaced.
Love watching the sunset in the early evening, the beach accross is rocky but very private and quite nice.
A detailed explanation about the garbage and garbage tags, should be on the info sheet prior to cottage arrival. There's was also a construction crew, machines in front of the cottage the whole time we were there. I felt that we should have been notified, we couldn't open the window because of the dust. overall we had a nice stay

We rented the cottage in late June ,and early July as we were looking for a quiet holiday. The first week was very quiet though the second week [over the holiday weekend] was more active. The cottage is quite close to the road, and not quite as private as we would have liked, yet the positives outweighed that feature. The cottage was very clean, nicely furnished and comfortable in every way. We were sorry that the bed in the sunroom was not a pullout as listed, but I believe that RentCottage has remedied that info on their site.
My one complaint has to do with the lack of accomodation for garbage or for recycling. The renter is responsible for disposing of and paying for taking garbage to the city landfill....a tedious chore to be cared for at the last moment. There was no place to keep it on a daily basis [we purchased a garbage pail with locked lid which worked well]
Overall, I would recommend this cottage because of it's comfort, cleanliness, proximity to both Southampton and Port Elgin and the great view.
