Cottage Profile This cottage is a nestled in a quiet lane behind the Main Street (High St) of Southampton. As a tastefully renovated loft of a former warehouse, this 1 bedroom is well situated to allow you to 'beach it' or tour the town. You are 2 blocks from the huge 'Canada Flag' and the beautiful sand of Southampton Beach on Lake Huron. Whether it is a romantic get-away week or a family week at the beach, you will find this lovely loft very accommodating. A parking spot for the sports car (or minivan) is steps from the front door. You have municipal services so there are none of the septic bed and water issues that typically accompany cottages. Plus, it's air-conditioned - aaaahhhhh! The interior of the home is painted stucco with wood plank flooring throughout. The centerpiece of the living room is a walk-out through the archtop doors to the 'Juliet' verandah. 'Romeo dahling, I'll be upstairs, bring up the bags'. You'll have to walk down to the beach to fully experience the spectacular sunsets but you can still see the sky glow red from your balcony. Or throw open the French doors to the balcony and let the lake breezes embrace you on those warm sunny beach days!! Separated from the living room by a countertop is a galley kitchen fully equipped with fridge, stove, and microwave. A kitchen table is also provided. It seats four (4) comfortably and doubles as the games/card table. There is one (1) large bedroom here. Painted in soothing yellow, the bedroom features a queen bed and closet. The washroom is a 4-piece with toilet, sink and clawfoot tub with wraparound clear curtain to make showering possible. Walk down the lane to beach and you'll find the fabulous beach and a historic boardwalk. Bring your beach umbrella (or get a coveted spot under the trees) and shovel and join the children building a dream sandcastle. (P.S. Tell the museum if you find another buried shipwreck! The plaque for the 1700's 'Weazell' is just 100m down the beach) There is also a children's playground and a menagerie of benches. After a swim or when the lake winds blow, move to the solace of your verandah and soak up the rays there. Or enjoy that bestseller that has possessed you. Eat in or out at the many nearby restaurants. If in, a BBQ (shared with the unit below) is provided to grill up your savory summer dinner. The cottage is located on one of the finest sandy beaches in the area. This beach consists of fine sand and pebbles with a shallow entry point into the fresh water. Watershoes make entry even more comfortable. You can walk this shoreline and watch the famous sunsets that were a finalist for the 'Seven Natural Wonders of Canada'. Your beach view includes scenic Chantry Island, a restored 1859 Lake Huron lighthouse. As an added bonus, all the amenities offered by downtown Southampton are within walking distance. Restaurants - walk to the Elk & Finch or Grosvenor's for fine dining. Museums - walk to the Southampton Museum and Archives Some of the most beautiful Lake Huron sunsets are visible from the beach shoreline. After the sun sets, the evening skies are open and provide breathtaking views of the stars, the moon, and the whole night time sky. If after all that you still have time for golf - there's the Chippewa course 3 minutes away or the Saugeen Golf course on County Road 3 towards Port Elgin. (Sauble and Port Elgin offer up some golf variety) If you still need to seek other attractions, remember Thursday night is Cruise Nite! Head for the flagpole where you'll find vintage and classic cars gathered around with a view of the sunset. Finally, the local roads around Southampton are popular with cyclists and roller bladers. And come back in the fall for Pumpkinfest too- (http://www.pumpkinfest.org/)

This is a small but comfortable space within easy walk to downtown and beach. It might have been better to be a bit closer to the beach. The lemons and tea/coffee was a nice touch. It might be nice to have a beach umbrella or other beach items available as at many other properties.

I absolutley loved the Southamton Cottage. It was a little hot at times inside, but there was an aC unit in the family room area. The cottage included everything we needed to make it feel like home, the decor was very tasteful and the best part was that it was less than a 5 minute walk to the beach and about a two minute walk to downtown Southampton.

We enjoyed our stay at this cute cottage. It was clean and we arrived to a warm welcome. It was conveinent to everything by walking or biking. There is only one thing that I would recommend - is a place for bikes. We were lucky to have friendly renters on the ground floor cottage and they did some rearranging of the outside furniture and BBQ to allow us to put our bikes outside their door

So sorry - I have been extremely busy since my return from Southampton.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Warehouse Loft #503. I appreciate very
much the upgrades (new toilet, new shower curtain, new bed, and all the little
accent pieces - flowers, beach bags on the wall and the one that I was able to
keep as a gift, as well as, the 4 bottles of PC Italian soda - Orange). Thank you
so much for everything.
The cottage was spotless when I arrived - I trust I left it in good order. I was
surprised to find the bed made up with clean linen and that there were dish
clothes and a bath mat as well. I really enjoyed my stay this year. It was even
nicer than last year. I would really love to return for the summer of 2010. Hope
to be there again!
“A great, quaint little hide away in lovely Southampton!”

Everything from the on-line reservation to our arrival was easy and effortless. We arrived to a very tidy, clean loft cottage with special touches of a large bowl of fresh strawberries and lemons and bottles of Italian soda, along with a lovely large beach bag for us to keep. Love the brightness with lots of windows and 2 skylights and a lovely balcony.
It was just 2 blocks from the beach and just behind High Street making accessibility to all the key locations convenient.
I only had 2 minor issues; the bed is quite high, making it an effort to get in and out of bed. I suggest a step stool would be helpful for those of shorter stature. Although a TV/DVD is provided we could not get any channels, only a bother on the one cool rainy day that we stayed in.
It was a great fine and certainly is a cottage that we plan to rent again.

The Loft is the perfect place for a couple to relax and unwind. We found it to be quite charming and well equipped. The balcony was a lovely place to read the morning papers and have a cup of tea. We found the location to be very central and within walking distance of all that we needed.
We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Southampton.
