Additional Location Information

Pelješac peninsula is the second largest peninsula in Croatia and the longest one in Dalmatia, perfect for an active, rural, relaxing or romantic vacation. The richness of the natural beauty is what makes the peninsula so special. Clean air, clear and clean sea rich with underwater flora and fauna and diverse wildlife. With its picturesque towns on both sides of the coast in the green olive trees it represents a unique experience. The coast line is full of amazing coves, white beaches, centuries old cypress trees, and pine forests. It´s a hilly area as well, the highest peak is St. Ilija Mountain above Orebić. From there there you can see almost the entire peninsula and the islands Korčula, Mljet, Lastovo, Hvar and Vis. Also, with a centuries-old maritime tradition Pelješac is a peninsula of sailors and captains, known for their skill and bravery on the high seas. Pelješac has been long known for its vineyards, and its wines "Dingač" and "Postup" are known today throughout the world.

Orebić as the largest town on the Pelješac is located on the western part of the peninsula, beneath Mount St. Ilija. Situated just across from Korčula Island it offers a diversity of holiday activities, magnificent seaside promenade, beaches, café bars, clubs, restaurants that offer traditional food, most of all fish and seafood dishes you won´t regret tasting. :)
For those looking for cultural and historical sights, Orebić offers a Maritime museum where captains’ houses are only a part of the story which is told inside. Franciscan monastery and Church of Our Lady of Angels is another sight that provides a breathtaking view (150 meters above sea level) of Pelješac canal, the town and island of Korčula, Mljet and Lastovo. Other sights are Church of Our Lady Delorita, Church of the Helper of Christians and Church of the Holy Trinity.
For those looking for natural sights, Orebić is perfect as well. Sveti Ilija Mountain is the highest mountain (highest peak at 961 meters) and the most popular mountaineering destination on Pelješac. The cypress reserve "Pod Gospu" is a hill in front of the Franciscan monastery where you can find trees up to 65 years old. The Cave Spila near Nakovana is the only well-preserved and completely researched Illyrian sanctuary in Croatia that´s known until today.
For those who prefer an active vacation, Orebić and its surroundings offer many interesting points for surfing, diving, walking and cycling, mountaineering. Viganj (5 km from Orebić) is one of the most attractive surfing destination in Croatia and Europe, and every year it hosts the Croatian surfing championship.
