Additional Location Information
Have fun walking or biking to everything in the sailing capitol of North Carolina, Oriental from a quiet location that borders the water. Not only can you see the confluence of Green, Smith and Camp Creeks from the deck of our condo, but you can watch the boats come and go from the Natural Resources public boat launch ramp.
Our condo is located on the first floor, so no steps to use and no elevator to climb in to, great accessibility. Across the parking lot is the pool, hot tub, barbecue grill, bench and bike rack for your convenience. Walk underneath the bridge to get to the new restaurant, Water Street Grill, for food and fun - all in a great atmosphere whether inside or out.
Water activities - no problems, we have sailing, power boating, fishing, kayaking, sail boarding, canoeing, and swimming.
Or perhaps you are in to walking around town to visit the great shops: Inland Waterway Provision Company (boat parts, clothing, souvenirs, etc) on the water front, Marsha's Cottage for clothing, Nautical Wheelers for wine, speciality food, souvenirs, clothing, shoes, etc, The Red Rickshaw located right near the Water Street Grill offers interior design items and more, and then there is our own Village Hardware, and the Oriental Marine Consignment for all of those good deals in used boat things and more. With in sight of the the Marine Consignment is the antiques and curio shop, Yesteryear, with lots of very interesting items to see and buy.
Food - if you do not want to fix your own by getting food from our great local market, Town and Country, or our local Saturday morning farmers market located on Hodges Street, then try one of several restaurants. Besides the Water Street Grill within close walking distance, you can also walk to M & M's, an institution in Oriental that includes outside screened porch seating. The Bean, THE place to go in the morning, not only offers coffee and breakfast sandwiches, but also carries a nice selection of ice cream for the afternoon treat where again, you can sit in or out and watch boats while connected to their free WiFi. The Tiki Bar and Toucan Grill and Fresh Bar Restaurant also looks out at the harbor for dining. Nel's Grill and Sports Bar serves up not only food, but lots of big screens for all the sports you crave. For down home food, pick Brantley's Village Restaurant located right on Broad Street. Next door is the Mini Mart for gasoline and snacks and good fried chicken. Further up the street check out the Silos for good pizza and music. Want to go further afield? then try Gary's Down East Restaurant and Oyster Bar in Arapahoe.
For fun - check out the local Oriental Historical Museum located on Broad Street next door to Nel's Grill and Sports Bar. Lou Mac Park is on South Avenue which provides a fishing pier. Near by, down Mildred Street, is the Town Park where a tennis court and playground equipment await you. Or go swimming at the Town Beach located on Neuse Drive but affectionally known as "Minuscule Beach" by folks here in Oriental. How about sailing lessons with one the sailing schools here? Or check out the Neuse River Winery, right here off off of Morris Creek Lane. If you visit during the winter season (Sept to May) visit the Old Theater for Friday Night Flicks, musical concerts put on by the Pamlico Musical Society or maybe a live play.
