Description from owner

Description

“... Each house remain open at least from two sides, to insert lights from windows so that winds and sun

purify …. “

This is Prof. Francesco Patrizi's theory from Padua University realized by the Duke Giorgio Santacroce in 1560 for "its ideal town" projected by the architect Ottaviano Mascherino, on the Oriolo hills, in symbiosis with the residence of the Prince, nowadays Altieri Palace .

"An ideal and happy city ", where the Inhabitants could live in harmony and wellbeing ,this is what Giorgio Santacroce, founder of the first human settlement , rationally planned in its structure and in its spaces, wanted to create.

In this context our house, still in the original volumes and in the internal spaces of daily life, was the former baker's house of the village. The residence is located in Oriolo Romano medieval old town and has been masterly restored by the owner, a competent architect.

It has been finely refurbished respecting contemporary interiors: exposed beams, coffered ceiling, terracotta's slipper, fireplace and original stone portals from the time are only some of its beautiful characteristics. The old structure masterfully combines with modern living comforts and it's divided in two levels: on the first level, you will find a comfortable dining room, a sitting room with an ancient fireplace, a kichenette, a bathroom and a first bedroom. Then, a typical staircase, designed by the owner, takes you to the second level where you will find a second bedroom.

The advantages of this residence are strategic because it is not only located in the heart of the old town but also because Rome Airport (Fiumicino- Leonardo da Vinci) and Civitavecchia harbour are easily reachable. Nearby you can also find the local train station where you can take the train to Rome, directly connected to the Subway (Stations of San Pietro and Valle Aurelia) and to the City of Viterbo, the heart of Etruscan Tuscia.

The natural setting, that surrounds the house, is interesting and suggestive, then offers various possibilities for hiking: walking between streams, springs of mineral and thermal waters , forests of oak, chestnut and beech trees. In a few minutes you can also reach the Bracciano Lake , a protected oasis within the regional Park, which is home for countless species of animals and birds. The Lake offers a variety of leisure activities, numerous sports facilities as sailing, windsurfing and daily trips by boat. On its shores you may wish to visit: the Romanesque church of San Liberato, surrounded by a famous Botanical Garden and a lush garden, the charming towns of Anguillara Sabazia and Trevignano and the Museum of Aviation Weapons with the most important Italian collection of historical aircrafts

The Tyrrhenian Sea with its wide sandy beaches, free or equipped, is about 20 Km., As well as the archaeological sites of Cerveteri and Tarquinia, the SPA of the Roman baths of Stigliano and the exclusive Golf Clubs "The Oaks" and "Olgiata".

To conclude the location it is the ideal place to do excursions, archaeological and natural, ideal for horse riding, walking or biking, ideal for , relaxation and fun. To conclude, the perfect place for a memorable vacation in direct contact with the surrounding nature and historical charming sites.
