The house is located at the lake near the Schwagstorf village in a camping area (Freizeitpark Kronensee) with many attractions nearby. Ideal for hiking and cycling. The North Sea coast is only 190 km away.
Other possible activities are swimming, surfing, fishing, and canoeing near the forest. During the spring and autumn seasons, the bird migration draws special fascination. More hiking trails are found nearby at Wiehengebirge. Major attractions are the Museum for the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest (Varusschlacht), [=destination:bad-essen:Bad Essen:], Brampton, Dümmer, and Osnabrück.
On the park premises the following quiet periods apply: nights from 22:00 to 7:00 o'clock, noon, from 13:00 to 15:00 o'clock. The entry and exit is not possible during those times. Vehicles can park at a designated parking space in front of the park.
The small lake offers sandy beaches for swimming, outdoor pool, designated dog beach and a nudist beach. Even in midsummer the water quality is very good with lots of birds and reeds lining the banks. There are two playgrounds, a football pitch, table tennis and a playground offer variety for young and old. During the summer months a restaurant with beer garden and a roll stand are there for your dining pleasure. In the central washing house guests can use a washer and dryer available for a fee.
The Wiehengebirge has other trails located about 5 km away. Utilize the specially designated routes through the adjacent marsh or along the Mittellandkanals. Other highlights of the area: the Friedenstadt Osnabrück with its beautiful old town and various museums, Bad Essen, with the historic Kirchplatz and Fachwerkambiete, the excavations of the Varusschlacht, Museum and Park Kalkriese, the Eisenzeithaus, Schnippenburg-Museum, Tuchmachermuseum Bramsche, Moorlehrpfad, Saurierfährten Barkhausen, and the Dümmer See.
