Description from owner

Description

This versatile beautifully lit Swiss chalet is an 1800 square foot, beach front, property, on the north side of Allumette Island facing the mainland of Quebec. Pembroke is the closest Ontario town. The chalet is on a 100 ft x 60 ft lot. It is located 4 miles east of Chapeau and 3 miles west of Waltham. Due to Quebec's recent regulations Trip Advisor cannot post locations in Quebec. However, the chalet is registered with Tourism Quebec. The property is also registered with the Film and Television Counsel, QFTC, as a film location. The Chalet accommodates groups which require accessibility features, multi-generational families and friends, business professionals, film crew, building and trade contractors, first responders, healthcare and government and frontline workers. It is also proudly a place where we host families of our armed forces military members who are based at the Canadian Force Base Petawawa.

The chalet is beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable with big authentic beams throughout the cottage. On the main floor a glass-faced wood stove adds ambiance and warmth to the living room. The two large picture windows in the living room showcase the mighty Ottawa River and in the background the foothills of the Gatineau/Laurentian Mountains. The chalet's spacious living room has a sofa and loveseat and some lazy boy chairs with area carpets on the floor. There is a large screen HDTV and a DVD player and high-speed internet. The kitchen and dining area is large. The well has soft water, however there is Culligan bottled water for cooking and drinking. The chalet has a washer, dryer in the hallway, a bedroom and a bathroom made for disabled guests. The Chalet has many windows and ceiling fans gently moving the fresh evergreen air. It has electric heat, a glass faced wood stove for chillier nights. Instructions can be given on working a wood stove.

The chalet has 4 bedrooms, and a large loft/bedroom and 2 full bathrooms. All the beds are dressed in new white linens, white pillows, white sheets and white down-filled duvets.

On the main floor is a bedroom made for guests who need accessibility. This bedroom has a queen bed. If needed a double bed and a twin bed can be put in place to accommodate another person.

The second floor has 3 bedrooms and a full bath with a bathtub.

The master bedroom has a king size bed, a queen size bed and a twin bed. It also has access to a large balcony facing the beautiful Ottawa River.

The second bedroom has a queen size bed.

The third bedroom has built-in beds, one queen size and one twin size bed and has access to the ensuite bathroom with a tub/shower. In this room there is ship stairs leading up to the third floor.

On the third-floor loft/bedroom there sleeps 4 people it has one queen bed and 2 twins. This loft is a great room for the kids to play in on rainy days. It is decorated in the Pirates of the Caribbean with a few hula girl costumes. I encourage parents to bring your children favorite games just in case there is a rainy day.

Outside of the chalet, there are three large decks, two face the river. All decks have built-in bench style seating. Lawn chairs add to the seating with a propane barbeque for cooking. At night the trees are lit with colors giving light and life to the vast front yard and beach area. The lights are on a timer which goes on at dusk and off at 11ish pm. There are two large firepits have grills for cooking on the campfire. The chalet is equipped with cast iron pans and utensils for campfire cooking.

Parking is in the chalet's driveway accommodating 3-4 cars at the cottage. When parking stay on the property, do not block roadways. Accessibility parking is directly near the back deck. Additional accessible ramps are available if needed. Just let us know.
