The cottage is 1 mile south east of the village of Ousby with traditional village pub, 8 miles north east of Penrith, the gateway to the Lakes where a wealth of local amenities are available including supermarkets, cinema, restaurants and shops and a further 5 miles brings you to picturesque Lake Ullswater. Ousby is in an undiscovered area of Cumbria where peace and tranquillity are in abundance and within a few minutes drive on meandering country lanes of many villages scattered throughout the Eden Valley.
The cottage adjoins Corn Rigg Cottage and sits in spacious grounds in open rural countryside with views to the north Pennines. The cottages have been converted from a derelict field barn into luxuriously appointed accommodation that is sure to be appreciated by the discerning client, furnished and decorated in a contemporary style to provide for your every need. The property was very clean and excellently presented. A couple of minor issues like plug in bathroom sink not staying in and unable to switch towel rail on in bathroom or drying room which had a musty smell when fan off. But saying that it is a beautiful location, local people very nice and friendly, lovely view and I would recommend a stay there to anyone. Did think £20 per dog was quite a lot as we were to make sure there was no sign of them having been there.

The cottage is well equipped with all you should need for a break, clean and tidy, with neutral decor, bedrooms/bathrooms lovely. It is in a fantastic location with many lovely walks on the door step. Nearest village shop in Langwathby approx 4 miles, good food in the Shepherd Inn pub. Friendly and helpful locals.

We had a lovely comfortable stay in this very well equipped barn,the downstairs cloakroom/drying room was really useful,the woodburning stove was really cosy on a chilly evening.We could not fault it and would highly recommend it and would be more than happy to stay there again.

This barn conversion looks like it has only just been finished and to the highest quality too. The furnishings are top quality, this well layer out and with underfloor heating we didn't need to light the log burner despite the snow falling outside!
The views are stunning right around the barn and it's so peaceful. Lovely walks from the door and a short car trip to Penrith.
Definitely recommend this for a lovely quiet break in a beautifully thought through barn conversion

We really enjoyed our stay in this beautifully restored barn. All the rooms were really lovely, our only criticism was that it was too warm for us even with no heating on! It is situated in the countryside with spectacular views from all windows. Even though it is in a remote spot, the road to Penrith, which is about 10 miles away was good and caused no problems. Plenty of shops and supermarkets in Penrith for stocking up with food and drink. We had pretty awful weather but still walked and explored and our dogs loved it!

Out of the way, need transport to access any kind of walk, tired & in need of updating, broken tiles & shoer in master bedroom needs repairing, On our arrival cottage was dirty, we spent first day of our weeks break cleaning !

We have investigated and discussed the issues raised with the owner.
We can confirm that there are many walks in and around this area. The cottage does provide literature on walks as well as other useful information.
The property is cleaned weekly by the owners and is always left for occupation immaculate.
We do advise all guests to contact the office immediately if there are any issues/problems at their property. Unfortunately we did not receive any calls during your stay regarding the cleanliness issue you raised. Had this information been forthcoming, we would have acted immediately to ensure that your stay was made as pleasurable and comfortable as possible.
The cottage is decorated every year along with any maintenance issues, therefore the tiles will be addressed.

Lovely property, very well equipped and appointed but becoming very tired. Cracked tiles on bathroom floors, part repaired patches in living area ceiling, very dusty, lots of cobwebs especially around light fittings and velux windows. The smoke detecters are extremely sensitive, could not even make toast without setting them off. The lid of the teapot was jammed in the neck of the pot so unable to use. To continually find new mice droppings on a daily basis was rather unpleasant. To then be paired with a couple in the adjoining barn who just opened their door to let their dogs out, usually unsupervised,a Staffordshire Bull Terrier and a Whippet, was some what unpleasant. The volume of dog mess that was created, that we cleaned up on a regular basis was very annoying and dissapointing.

Rusby Barn a beautiful barn conversion in beautiful surroundings we enjoyed a lovely break here in a very comfortable and cosy barn could not fault one thing about any of it would recommend it to anyone!!!
