Cottage Profile Picturesque three-level, three bedroom chalet style cottage located on a stunning 60 acre lot across the road from Big Bay just southeast of the community of Wiarton and north of Owen Sound on Georgian Bay. Enter through the side entrance of the cottage and you'll find yourself on the lower level. On this level there is a bedroom with a queen bed and a bright window that looks out to the front of the property (note: the fireplace in this bedroom is not operational). Also on this level are laundry facilities, including a washing machine. While there isn't a dryer there is a clothes line for your use. Head up the stairs to the main level of the cottage. At the top of the stairs you'll find yourself between the kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is well-equipped with many of the amenities of home including fridge, stove, microwave and more. A bright window over the sink brings light into the space. Just adjacent to this is the elegant dining table with seating for six situated by a wood stove which can take the chill out of the air on a cool evening. The living room is a comfortable space with great seating on the couch, loveseat or chair situated around the fireplace (note: the fireplace is not for renters' use). A 47" HD TV is situated above the fireplace and it has a DVD player. The beautiful pine floors in this space will make you feel right at home while you enjoy the bright, serene view out the windows. A two-piece bathroom is located down the hall, as well as a 'reading room' - a great spot to sit on the couch and enjoy your favourite novel in peace and quiet. The stairs to the upper level of the cottage are located in this reading room. Head up the stairs to find two bedrooms and a bathroom. The master bedroom has a queen bed as well as a double. A second bedroom has a window to let in the air and a queen bed for your comfort. Both of these bedrooms also have beautiful pine floors. On this level there is a four-piece bathroom with a combination tub/shower. Just off the main level of the cottage (accessed out a door by the kitchen) is the great, elevated deck with a view out to the bay and of the spacious grounds surrounding the cottage. The deck offers a relaxing space for you to gather for meals and to sit in the sun or shade. There are two patio sets, each with an umbrella. One patio set offers four chairs, while the other offers six (with cushioned seats!). The propane BBQ means that you can cook up the perfect summer meal, while a loveseat swing makes a great spot to sit in the evenings. Also located on the deck is the chimnea, so you can sit around and enjoy the night air by the light from the fire. There is plenty of grassy space for the kids to enjoy, or you can join them in admiring the pond. As the pond is not fenced, children must be supervised while outdoors. As the property is 60 acres, there is plenty of space for exploration on the cottage grounds, including the orchard and wooded areas. There is even a nature trail to enjoy! The cottage is about a half hour drive from the communities of Wiarton and Owen Sound, where there is plenty of opportunity for shopping, eating out and exploration. The Bruce Peninsula offers plenty of chances for fun and activity - don't forget to check out the Bruce Trail or the golf courses that this area has to offer!

We rented for a week. Rentcottage.com was super helpful and the directions were very thorough.
The property worked out well for us but we have teenagers who like to hike and kayak. The cottage is not suited to young children, there are several hazards including a T.V. resting on the fireplace mantel and not secured to the wall. The kitchen was missing decent cutlery, no cutting knives, no corkscrew, no dishrack, and a super small cutting board, but it was very clean.
The deck off the upper floor bedrooms was closed but looked like it might have good views of the water if we could have used it. Many of the windows were missing screens and it was hard to get air flow. The first floor bedroom is isolated and grim with a damp smell. The washroom doors do not lock.
The cottage is sheltered from the neighbours, which was great. The water frontage is rocky and small but suited us. There is a lot of wildlife and the trails through the property were fun to hike. We made several day trips around the area and the property is well located for going up to Tobermory for the day or going to Owen Sound for lunch etc.

It was our first time renting a cottage. Found the property through last minute deals. For the price, it is a great property. Lots of room for my kids to run around, having said that, it's not a lake front property and we had to drive to another town to get some swimming done. Property came with central air conditioning, unfortunately, it didn't cool the rooms upstairs at all. Bring your own DVD player if you plan to watch a movie to unwind. A DVD player is available if you enjoy watching your favourite movies in black and white. Everything else was great
