Ocean Beach, San Diego, California
Welcome to sunny San Diego! And welcome to Villa Caribe, nestled in the heart of the quaint, seaside town of Ocean Beach - famous for its casual and relaxed atmosphere... and, of course, beaches!
Directly in front of you lies a spacious patio and grassy area with table and chairs, lounge chairs, a large hot tub, gas barbecue, a small sandy "beach" area with a fire pit -to enjoy cocktails and the breathtaking views of the sunset - and, of course, miles and miles of deep blue ocean where we often see migrating whales, playful pods of dolphins, and adventurous surfers.
The southern Caribbean island of St Lucia, locally known as "the fairest isle in all the world," is famous for its twin mountain peaks – known as the Pitons (French for peak). It is these signature symbols that are the inspiration for Villa Caribe’s two-bedroom/one bath St. Lucia Suite.
Situated at the western-most point of Villa Caribe, the ocean-front St. Lucia Suite offers accommodations for up to six, spectacular views of red and gold-splashed sunsets, deep-blue ocean, and white foamy waves.
The St. Lucia Suite (775 sq. ft.) is located just outside Villa Caribe’s sun-drenched patio, offering a shared outdoor area with beach chairs, a large jacuzzi hot tub, a dining table for 6, palapas for shade, sand area with a fire pit, gas BBQ and a fabulous white water view of the Pacific Ocean.
Beautifully furnished with your comfort and the style of the Caribbean in mind, The St. Lucia Suite features a comfortable Cal-king bed, equally relaxing queen bed, leather sofa sleeper with queen mattress, cable TV and wireless Internet access.
For the aspiring chef in the family, the St. Lucia's kitchen is fully equipped... even down to the Tupperware and plastic wrap! Whether it's a family vacation, a couples' getaway or a business trip, the St. Lucia is waiting for you.
We are located on a small cliff overlooking an enchanting, rocky, tide pool-explorer's beach (and surfing area)! Enjoy unmatched ocean views from the property or head down to the beach - just a short 1/2 block walk away!
Six blocks to your right is the casual seaside town of Ocean Beach. Stroll along Newport Avenue and take in the array of small shops and boutiques. From antiques to surfboards, sandwich shops to ocean-front fine dining with bars and taverns in between – Ocean Beach is friendly, informal and fun!
There are three beach cruisers in the garage that the guests share on a first-come-first- served basis and ocean board walks and a nice bike path to ride on.
In the evening, enjoy cocktails while listening to the surf, or take a romantic stroll on the famous Ocean Beach pier, and enjoy the lights of San Diego from the over-water restaurant.
Be sure to catch the fireworks display from Sea World - only 10 minutes away! Return home to your ocean-front, cliff-side hideaway, enjoy some wine with a loved one, and listen to the waves crash on the beach. Paradise!
Villa Caribe is also close to all San Diego has to offer: 30 seconds from a rocky beach-explorer’s playground (beach access is a short walk around the block), 2 minutes to the heart of Ocean Beach, 6 minutes to the charming village of old Pt. Loma, with its shops, restaurants and the San Diego Yacht Club, 10 minutes to Sea World, Old Town, the Gas Lamp District, the airport, shopping at Fashion Valley, 15 minutes to the World Famous San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park and about 30 minutes to Legoland and the Wild Animal Park. ASK if this unit has AC!

Our unit was very clean and comfortable. the view of the ocean and cove were spectacular. There were many restaurants and specialty stores near by. We will stay here again whenever we come to San Diego area.

I will stay at this property again as it was peaceful and beautiful. The one recommendation: Could you move the TV in unit 1523 away from the wall or add sound proofing? It was extremely loud in the master bedroom of our unit 1521 which made it difficult to fall asleep. Luckily I slept in the other bedroom and I could hear the ocean. Perfect!!

The house was really nice and looked like it had been recently remodeled. The beds in the bedrooms were really comfy. The only problem for us was parking. The garage was a little small to accomodate our car but we were lucky enough that the other renters would let us use their parking space outside.

The property was wonderful - just like the other Nancy's Vacation Rentals' properties. Although this property wasn't as "stocked" as others we've stayed in (i.e. games, books, fans, kitchenware, etc), it was still a great condo! We usually stay in Pacific Beach, so we're used to having restaurants and grocery stores within walking distance, which wasn't the case for this location. The kids loved the hot tub. I loved drinking coffee in the morning while sitting on the bench overlooking the ocean. I also loved listening to the waves as I fell asleep. The washer and dryer were very convenient. I would stay in this condo again.
“great location for the beach and seeing the sights”

We really liked the condo. Kitchen could use some updating. Not enough flatwear , cups or glasses to cover 2 meals a day for 4 adults. Had to run dishwasher alot. Broken coffeepot was replaced in a timely way.Could use a plastic pitcher for making juice.

We had over all a pleasant experience however, it was a true dissapointment that we could not access the sea by your backyard, the electricity went out a couple times (breakers) and there is no way this can accomodate 6, were were 5 and we could not all watch TV together because of the insufficient seating in the living area.

Nice House, great view and good location but many problems.
- In first the morning my kids went outside to play and they found near the hot tub "two dog dirties" which we had to clean. This happend againg the next day.
- The dishes, which they supposed to be cleaned, were very dirty and we had to clean them again. Moreover the dishes are all differents and not complete, I know this is just a detail but the house is supossed to be first level (at least for the price).
- During our second night there was a very hard wind, chairs moved because of the wind all arround the backyard. Also the cover tub blew off and a lot of sand went inside the tub. The wind was so hard that it moved the bbq!!. The tub were not cleaned a refilled again
- when we tried to use the bbq, the gas container was empty.
So they offer the house with bbq and hot tub and we paid for these amennities but we could not use them.
As I told you, the house is very nice, it has a great view and it is very good located but we faced a lot a problems and it was so expensive to faced these kind of problems.
Despite the problems we had, We liked and enjoyed a lot San Diego a we probably will go againg next year, but I would not rent this house again and would not recomend.
Also Nancy's Vacation Rentals service was very poor because if you know that a guest is having problems, at least you should come over and see what is going on.
I am sorry if you do not like what I am telling you, but I am very objetive and honest.
For the price of this house you should find a much better option.

This house is amazing! Everything we needed, in excellent condition and perfect for children. We stayed in the St. Lucia suite for 7 days and met all the neighbors. Pretty much adopted another child, since our kids were inseperatable from him! Great location, easy access to grocery stores or last minute DVD run. The beds were comfortable and dishes and linens all matched. We will be back every year. Thanks for letting us stay and don't change a thing, it is perfect!

This was a nice place, with a terrific view of the ocean. However, we did not know beforehand that there wasn't an a/c in this unit. The first day we got there was pretty hot. After opening the windows, it cooled down a bit. I just wished they were more clear in the description of their property. We also didn't find any movies or games and that was mentioned in their description, I would have brought some with me if I had known. Overall, it is a big space and has a nice view, but they need to bette clear and accurate in their description of their property.
Since at least 90% of the homes in the beach area of San Diego do NOT have AC, we don't think of "disclosing" the fact that one does not have AC. We do, however, advertise prominently the ones that do have it so guests understand why the price is higher for those. They are often hot upon arrival if they have been closed up but opening them up to the ocean breezes for a few minutes usually cools them off quite quickly to the nice ambient ocean air temperature. I will check and replenish the family games in all the units but we do not supply movies. We tried that and they disappear as quickly as we put them in. Nancy
“Excellent location and views. Would come back.”

Had some problems getting into unit upon arrival but this was attributed primarily to late notification to us of access codes (we had been away from home on East Coast for a few days and e-mail was sent when we were en-route). Recent conversion to Nancy's from another rental agency also believed to contribute to some confusion. Luckily, we were able to reach someone by phone to help us and, once we gained access and became situated, everything went smoothly. Nancy (and staff) very helpful and prompt in addressing our needs. Although there was some confusion about parking and garage arrangements, this was also addressed quickly. Unit and amenities were above-average overall and the location is hard to beat for access to everything in the San Diego area. Views of the ocean are outstanding, including amazing sunsets. Would definitely use Nancy's Vacation Rentals again and recommend this location, especially for adults.
