Additional Location Information

This unique property is located 3 steps from the water (grandfathered). It is one of only 8 houses on the State Marine Preserve. The Hilo side of the Big Island is lush and green and has many exotic fruits and flowers. It is also old Hawaii at its best. It takes you off the tourist track, while you still vacation in luxury.
The surrounding nature and the natural beauty of the area are astounding. Snorkeling is right outside your doorstep. The snorkel ponds are protected by a coral reef so they are calm, yet the crashing ocean waves are just beyond. We are located within a Marine Life Conservation district. One mile away, you can soak in the volcanically heated warm ponds of Ahalanui. A little farther down the road, you can surf or boogey board with the locals at Isaac Hale Beach, also known as Pohoiki. One mile in the other direction is the Champagne Pond, where you won’t want to miss swimming with the sea turtles (Honu's). Volcano National Park is approximately one hour away. Black sand beaches, waterfalls, nature hikes, steam vent caves, botanical gardens and scenic drives through rain forests are all nearby. Hilo, the second largest city in the Hawaiian Islands, lies just 30 minutes away. This is old Hawaii at its natural best.
